Throughout the 20th-century record sleeves regularly served as canvases for some of the world's most famous artists. From Andy Warhol's electric yellow banana on the cover of The Velvet Underground & Nico's 1967's debut album, to the custom-sprayed Banksy street art that fronted Blur's 2003 "Think Tank," art has long been used to round out the listening experience. A new book, "Art Sleeves," explores some of the most influential, groundbreaking and controversial covers from the past forty years. "This is not a 'history of album art' type book," said the book's author, DJ and arts writer DB Burkeman over email. Instead, he says the book is a "love letter" to visual art and music culture.

The original concept was an attractive model covered in whipped cream. They made arrangements with a model but she said she couldn't do it right away because she had an international trip to make.
When she finally arrived, she was seven months pregnant with a noticeable baby bump. They decided to hide this by having her sit down for the shoot. However, the hot lights quickly melted the whipped cream faster than the artist could cover her so they switched to shaving cream which could, at least, hold its form a lot longer.
So the album cover that attracted millions of lustful eyes was actually a woman covered up to her cleavage in shaving cream who was seven months pregnant. And now you know the rest of the story. G'day.
Many men would find her ripe 7 month pregnant body very sexy

Not sure if I have TAAB newspaper, but do still have gatefold of Moontan with rear of naked astronaut on the inside, as well as Billion Dollar Babies snakeskin wallet with billion dollar bill and School’s Out original with opening desk. Sadly don’t have the panties that surrounded that vinyl.
“I used to have the cover for a record by Lynyrd Skynyrd, with the band walking away from a huge fire.
Sometime later, the band was in a plane crash and some members of the band died.
I bet it’s worth a lot of money now”
“Street Survivors”, a lot of copies were sold before it was pulled and changed after the crash. Subsequent reissues have gone back to the original cover design. A true mint or sealed 1st issue can fetch decent money. I just bought a 2019 reissue put out on colored vinyl.
“I really hope there is a resurgence in LPs and album cover art”
I looked on EBAY.
They are available for between $18-50 depending on condition.
This is the 1972 version with the 12 page fold down newspaper.
Yes, Andy Warhol did the cover. It was a front and back picture of Mick Jagger’s crotch and butt in Levis jeans.
I guess he had run out of Campbell Soup cans.
