The U.S. Office of Personnel Management put out the call on March 25 for heads of departments and supervisors to find current and former federal employees to be reassigned temporarily to watch kids at illegal-alien holding facilities in Dallas, San Diego, San Antonio, and Ft. Bliss.
The feds appear to be trying to keep this job announcement on the low-pro, as it’s going out only to “heads of departments and agencies” on a link that is “not searchable on USAJOBS” webpage.

Now, depending on where you live, there can be an additional differential. But, the GS-15 noted above is a big deal. That's equivalent to a Colonel (O-6). Real responsibility. Real expertise. You don't just walk into a job like that.

GS-15 type managers (I’ve known them) aren’t likely to ‘watch kids’. This is an executive-manager type person (usually with a masters-degree).
I would make a guess here that they are hiring up hundreds of people, and the bulk of them are making in the $60k a year range as actual kid-managers, and for every ten of them...some team manager who is making around $80k. Then at each town...a GS-15 type to manage 500 kid-managers over all.
I will predict a disaster in the making, with people mostly unqualified for the work, and some of them either assaulted or dead by the hands of the pretender-kids (the ones who are gang-related and in their early 20s).
This is a temporary detail with travel, lodging and per diem paid by the Office of Refugee Resettlement. That means they get paid their regular salary plus travel lodging and per diem.
That's some mighty damn expensive baby sitters. I might want to come out of retirement for this.

I think you missed it a bit. A GS-15 manager might be able to manage around 50-80 baby sitters. For 500 of them you will need an SES type with 6-8 GS-15 managers and lots of support staff.
I agree this is a disaster in the making on top of the disaster they created and are trying to get a handle on.

There’s one key problem I see out of this ‘gimmick’...if you went looking for Honduran-accent Spanish child-keepers...then you mandated this in the job requirement, with past experience at handling juveniles...you just aren’t going to find qualified people. In the whole state of Ohio...there might only be dozen people who really fit the entire requirement and have any wish to be a part of this whole mess.
Add to it....a lot of these are pretender-juvenile (gang members), and you are simply begging for disciplinary problems in managing them.
You will end up with hundreds of college kids, who had one single class of regular Spanish and apply for the job with almost no qualifications at handling juveniles.
I babysat convicted felons for 25 years, and never made anything near that.
What joint and sec level?
