The bizarre discovery was made at Australia's first "body farm" - a facility where medical and forensic scientists can study human decomposition in action. Researchers at the Australian Facility for Taphonomic Experimental Research (AFTER) have been paying attention to corpses over long periods of time, taking snapshots every 30 minutes for more than 17 months. Much to their surprise, the researchers found a "significant" amount of movement - as if the corpse was moving of its own free will.

George Clinton was on tour on acid when the band accidently drove through the set where George Romero was shooting some of the outdoor nighttime footage of zombies in Night of the Living Dead.

I heard that G. Elliott Smith, the anthropologist who first examined many of the royal mummies in Egypt, got a shock when he unwrapped the mummy of Ramses II, and one arm jerked. He said it was like the pharaoh was saying, “Let me go back to my tomb!”

With the “For the (dead) People Act” corpses will be automatically registered.

I hear Ramses II died while shootin’ dice. And was able to keep shootin’ dice for a while thereafter. ;^)

Breakdown of tissue, contraction of ligaments and tendons, gases from decomposition...all can cause some movement in a corpse.

Last time I died I was completely unaware of the passage of time. When I woke, it was as if it was the exact moment I died.I dropped dead on the basketball court Thanksgiving weekend of 2018. No pulse or respiration, unresponsive. The guys started CPR, the first aid squad was there inside of five minutes and I was revived. My only memory is that everything went white (not bright like a light, but like a pure white sheet) and I awoke several days later from a medically induced coma. God has been better to me than I deserve.

Every time I see a pic of Che I think of a better demise. This time -- not sure why but you will appreciate -- would have been to throw him into the propeller of the
Granma, and instead of having that useless mope Batista fight him on Cuban soil, have US Marines board the
Granma just offshore of Veracruz after Che's body lodged in the screws and torch Fidel, Raul, and Camilo. Then give the footage of
Granma ablaze to the networks and to Warner Bros for Moviereel news.
"Flash! This just in from Veracruz. The Castros set off on a 3-hour tour, but the mighty ship got hot!"

I completely understand the science behind the movements, but it still creeps me out.

Ordinarily no one would be seeing it, because of inhumation. I do wonder who got the idea of having someone sit around taking continuous video of a roomful of corpses.

It’s why they bring the chaplain in for a nice chat before they wheel you in to the operating room.
