I’m having a problem deciding whether the Biden administration is stupid or evil or just flat-out afraid of us Commoners.
And then I realized that it’s all three. Here’s why.
Our liberal friends never imagined that a Trump could happen. Nothing in their world prepared them for him. So what happens when you are confronted by something completely unexpected? You stop dead in your tracks.
That is one of the basic themes in Jordan B. Peterson’s oeuvre. As he writes in Beyond Order. 12 More Rules for Life:

And Nancy Pelosi is no herbivore, despite her fetish for storing ice-cream in $24,000 refrigerators. Non-herbivores, after freezing in place for a moment when threatened by the fearsome Trump dinosaur, decide what to do next. Friend or foe? Should Dems ignore Trump as a flash in the pan? Should they figure he represented a few dumb deplorables? Or should they treat him as an existential danger?
We know what happened. The Dems chose Door Number Three and embarked on a mission to destroy Trump and everything he represented.
When you choose all-out war, the next thing that happens is that you make Trump and his supporters the frightful enemy, that will smash everything we hold dear -- reinstate Jim Crow, smash our wonderful administrative state, and make every woman into a house slave of the patriarchy -- unless we act now. And then you bombard your supporters with non-stop propaganda, just like our great leaders did in World War I and II and the Cold War.

DemocRATs want to destroy everyone who does not live in the false reality that they live in. Just like Mao, Pol Pot, and Ho Chi Minh who lived in the same false reality that they are gods.
We’ve given them no real reason to fear us. Maybe that’s a problem.
The democrats think that they have the upper hand but, IMHO, in the long run this will not end well for them. Socialism has never worked and it will not work for them.
Democrats fear real voters.
Or as Herman Cain famously said: “They think you’re stupid.”
On every issue, Dem-lefties are on the side of chaos and destruction, crime and disorder.

<><> They support sanctuary cities for criminal aliens and

<><> They want more and more power over we, the people.
Dismantling Western civilization (rather than its preservation) is the name of their game.

Never works for the “equality for all” group because achieving their goal requires violent suppression of outliers and dissenters - which requires a strong violent leader. The path there is always paved with the bodies of prior leftist (but not leftist enough) leadership.
Indeed, it is over. In their rush to counter President Trump and We The people who have rallied to his cause, they’ve over-stepped & exposed themselves. It isn’t a pretty sight.
For that alone, we are grateful.
They won’t be afraid after they get four new Democratic senators from Washington DC and Puerto Rico and add four new lefty members to SCOTUS.
They’re working on it now.
Democrats fear real voters.
There are some on FR who fear female voters. Even conservative female voters. Until conservatives can unify and stop functioning as a circular firing squad the elections will continue to be won by Dims and RINOs.
Well put. I’ve been trying to understand their motives, alternating between malice and ignorance. Fear fits.
I spend time with someone chronically anxious. Everything is handled in a frame of anxiety, unable to see the world any other way.
Makes sense that Progressives tend to see the world thru a frame of fear, interpreting everything to justify their chronic fear. They designate targets, and either flee or fight; if their designated opponent favors/opposes X, they have to take an opposing stance. Ergo, they defend what will objectively harm them - cognitive dissonance preventing rational conclusions, importing all evils on their designated opponents.
Your excellent point and ... the Democrat/Left Party and their Party-owned media know they are better than anyone or anything else at creating, promoting and maintaining fear ... to the point that patriotic Americans have willingly ceded many of their Liberties to fear. And the reality of the past 12 months has bolstered this knowledge, and their already blazing confidence and egos, to even greater heights.
