I see it occasionally on here, it is true.

I grew up a Catholic, and I left that church for very personal and valid reasons, but I harbor no ill will towards the religion itself as some seem to. I know there are good clergy and laypersons in the church.

But for me, watching what has happened to the Catholic Church since John Paul II died is sad. The current Pope is an astonishing person, in a bad way. He seems not only set on destroying Catholicism, but deliberately defiling it.

I feel sadness for a lot of Catholics who must wonder how this has come to transpire.

Much as many of us Americans feel about our Republic.

Even contemplating leaving is shocking to me. I’m certainly not the best Catholic by a long shot but it feels like part of my identity.

I was born into it for a reason I believe.

But it is leaving me
