Chicago is famous for many things: tall buildings, great universities, a history of organized crime, and deep-dish pizza.
The two goliaths in this game are Giordano's and Lou Malnati's. I'm no deep-dish expert, but I had my share of the dense, cheesy pie during my college years in the Chicago area. Deep-dish was the pizza of choice at most gatherings, unfortunately for me as I am lactose-intolerant.
Aside from the fact that deep-dish always made me feel sick, I remembered thinking Giordano's was slightly better than Lou Malnati's. But that might have just been because people ate it more.
In general, I never saw what all the fuss was about. Deep-dish just never tasted that good to me.

Also the birthplace of Yogi Berra and Joe Garagiola, who lived across the street from each other! (not sure what kind of pizza they liked).
I don’t know if they have good pie’s, but I love Charlie Gitto’s on the Hill in St. Louis! Their Baked Spaghetti and meatballs are awesome. They make some delicious steaks too!
The Hill neighborhood in St Louis is where Joe Garagiola and Yogi Berra grew up. On the same street right across from each other.
Just an interesting aside concerning food & covid. I’m just winding down my battle with covid. It wasn’t bad at all but I did lose my smell and taste. But at least for me it didn’t affect my appetite or what I ate. I still look forward to every meal and if anything I went after some real junk (steak bomb, pepperoni pizza, fried clam plate were my last 3 dinners) maybe my imagination was just working overdrive trying to make me happy. But I’ve been eating like an absolute pig. I also have always thought that I’m not too sick if I’m hungry. And that definitely played out this time.
I liked Gino’s East when I was living there from 97-99.
