J&J has been held up, awaiting approval (from the Government) on its two main US suppliers. The Catalent fill and finish (Packaging) facility in Bloomington, Ind. has recently been approved (they reportedly have tens of millions of finished doses on hand between their J&J and AZ contracts, ready to ship). J&J's US supplier for the vaccine material itself, Maryland-based Emergent BioSolutions, has not yet received it's Mother-May-I certification from the Biden Administration. Must be capitalism's fault.
I got my 2nd vaccine (Moderna) 2 weeks ago today, so I should be good to go.

The problem with all of these coronavirus vaccines is that none of them have been tested for effectiveness against live viruses. The last time a vaccine was developed for corona-like virus was around 1963. RSV was a virus children would catch and cause upper respiratory infections. A vaccine was pushed through and they SKIPPED ANIMAL TESTING and went straight to human trials. Over 80% of the children that received the vaccine got infected with RSV and they got much sicker than they would have had they never been vaccinated. Some of those children died!
The reason for this is ADE (antibody-dependent enhancement). This is where the antibodies produced don’t neutralize (kill) the virus. Remember, traditional vaccines use fragments from the virus. So your immune system attacks the virus but mostly where the recognized fragment is. Very often this limits or totally disables the antibodies from killing the virus. So these antibodies remain attached to the virus. This tricks your cells into letting the virus enter because it detects your antibodies instead of the virus. From there, the virus replicates and becomes DEADLIER! Every attempt to make a coronavirus vaccine since that date has FAILED from the same consequences!! No vaccine was ever made for Sars-CoV-1 (SARS) for this very reason.
Every attempt they made to create a vaccine for SARS resulted in all the lab animals DYING when they were exposed to the live virus. That is the reason for the new mRNA technology. Rather than treat you with a viral fragment, they reprogram your immune system with gene therapy. This all but eliminates the possibility of ADE occurring, but no one knows what the long term consequences will be. Will this cause autoimmune diseases like RA or MS? I’d be VERY concerned about getting a conventional coronavirus vaccine knowing the history and the 100% failures of past coronavirus vaccines. Especially if it came from CHINA!!

All the people in the trials were as exposed to the virus, as the controls - as members of the general public. Then they study the outcomes (illness, hospitalization and death), to determine statistical differences between those vaccinated, and the control group.
That is how the vaccine effect is calculated. It is considered unethical to deliberately expose test subjects to a harmful virus. To the degree that the tested vaccine is not effective, you would be inflicting damage or death on the test subjects. That is not something done for any vaccine.

Vaccines were developed for the closely related coronaviruses MERS and SARS, as well as other coronaviruses over the years. More than a hundred different vaccines were or are being developed for COVID-19.

There is something terribly wrong with everything Corona from the outset. The “vaccine” cheerleaders amuse me. To each their own but it seems if anything goes against the shot takers they are up in arms and as bad as the left pushing it because Trump is gone. Even if Trump were still prez,I would pass.
Got an email link from Medstar Health (in Maryland) to schedule my COVID vaccine. Made an appointment and immediately realized I picked the wrong location. Cancelled it. I cannot reschedule. Then I read the FAQ. FAQ say if you cancel, you are shit out of luck. F-you, Medstar.

In a way I wish we did know how to do something like that.
My understanding is that these current mRNA vaccines get some cells of any type encountered to generate spike proteins. Then those spike proteins are recognized as foreign.
That is impressive enough, but imagine if someone knew how to update the chromosomes of only immune systems cells and then to get those cells to take some preplanned activity. that would be scary, but impressive.
