“gene therapy”? Please explain the biological mechanism allowing the mRNA to get through the double membrane of the nuclear envelope that protects the cell’s nucleus which contains the genes.

In a way I wish we did know how to do something like that.
My understanding is that these current mRNA vaccines get some cells of any type encountered to generate spike proteins. Then those spike proteins are recognized as foreign.
That is impressive enough, but imagine if someone knew how to update the chromosomes of only immune systems cells and then to get those cells to take some preplanned activity. that would be scary, but impressive.
