We contacted the airport tower to see if someone could explain the lights but have not heard back from anyone. So far, we have not been able to speak to anyone with the FAA to find out if there were any drones in the area.
The Southaven Police Department told us they had not received any calls about the lights. Memphis Police have not gotten back to us. The time stamp on David Howell’s cell phone shows the video was captured just after 10 p.m.
“I can’t believe nobody else got video or called and said, hey, we see something. It’s kind of strange,” David Howell said.
David Howell said after what he saw above the trees on his street he’s a believer.
“I just think the universe is so big why would God only make us? I don’t know but that’s my thought. I find it hard to believe we are alone,” Howell said.
According to the UFO Stalker website, the last time a UFO was reported in Southaven was in 2017.

On a foggy night on the beach at Cape Cod a while back i launched a kite with 3 or 4 mini-green glo-sticks hanging off of the bottom.
I got the kite relatively high up and it gave of a eerie green glowing glob of light in the foggy night sky.
the next morning at breakfast everybody in the place was talking about the UFO they all saw the previous night.
we got a chuckle out of that one..
We saw some of those in the Seattle area last summer. I did a bunch of searching on the internet to see if they could be explained. Because they were visible for so long. One by one they came from the north at what looked like about 1000-3000 feet, then at about the same place each one would climb up until it disappeared.
What was interesting was that they moved like hot air balloons, except the light was too bright and continuous, and it flickered slightly - exactly like these do.
What were they? They are Chinese Sky Lanterns. Look ‘em up in youtube. They seemed to rise out of the atmosphere at the end because what was really going on was that each one, at roughly the same distance from the launch point, ran out of fuel. The flame reduced until it went out, looking as if it was going farther away.

Hush, you two. You’re going to spoil it.
Based solely on the footage they provided, it looks to me exactly like Chinese sky lanterns.
Some planes going back to MCAS Yuma dump unexpended flares in a long stream. They can go nearly horizon to horizon.
Maybe it’s aliens who are realizing the danger democrats pose and will vaporize them for us. Can you imagine if aliens landed on this planet for real? Just one day their space ships appeared in the sky? Everything, EVERYTHING would come to an immediately standstill wouldn’t it, and I think a great deal of the population would die from shock, heart attacks, just horrific fear.

Fake Fake Fake.
The UFOs that are flying is a new Biden outlet... It is a plane with lots of space (err, I meant ILLEGAL) aliens!! 😀
I saw something in Tennessee very similar to the Mississippi sighting. I was able to drive towards it. It originated from an camping area and was a cluster of 15-20 Chinese lanterns (hot air balloons, candle powered). Very impressive, visually.
When I was a kid, one night I flew a kite with a AA battery and light over the cemetery. Heard some neighborhood kid discussing it on the school bus the next morning.😉
Copycat ufo BS
Dudes lofting the balloons having a good laugh at the rubes
Hmmm. You just gave me an idea.
Washington Post headlines on a UFO visit: ‘UFO landed. Women and Children hardest hit, as alien is racist, sexist and homophobic!’
Personally, I'm still agnostic on whether God created intelligent or otherwise lifeforms on other planets (it's possible, of course, but I'm waiting for physical proof), but it has always struck me how many people use this as their reason for believing in extraterrestrials. There are a lot more possible answers to this question than just, "There must be extraterrestrials."
Flares in the distance?
Hah! Just what I thought-- Chinese lanterns. The guy sure went fast from this:
“I just think the universe is so big why would God only make us? I don’t know but that’s my thought. I find it hard to believe we are alone,” Howell said."
To this:
Howell said, on the one hand, he’s relieved to know the source of those lights, but he’s a little disappointed it wasn’t an encounter of another kind. “It’s okay. That’s good. Maybe we are alone,” said Howell.
I agree with him. Being “alone” is a good thing.
Flares.
