On a foggy night on the beach at Cape Cod a while back i launched a kite with 3 or 4 mini-green glo-sticks hanging off of the bottom.
I got the kite relatively high up and it gave of a eerie green glowing glob of light in the foggy night sky.
the next morning at breakfast everybody in the place was talking about the UFO they all saw the previous night.
we got a chuckle out of that one..

I saw something in Tennessee very similar to the Mississippi sighting. I was able to drive towards it. It originated from an camping area and was a cluster of 15-20 Chinese lanterns (hot air balloons, candle powered). Very impressive, visually.

When I was a kid, one night I flew a kite with a AA battery and light over the cemetery. Heard some neighborhood kid discussing it on the school bus the next morning.😉

Yeah, some guys in England used to do something similar with a large weather balloon filled with helium and a small light bulb inserted into it. But now that I read your comment, a kite would probably be even better, since you can jerk a kite around to make the light move in all sorts of “weird” ways, and probably can’t do that as well with a big balloon.
