The number of tents at the park has swelled in recent months...Near the intersection of Glendale Boulevard and Park Avenue, at one corner of the park, a crowd of people was gathering around 7 a.m. Wednesday to stop officials from forcing homeless individuals out.
O’Farrell has said he plans to close the park but did not say when, the Los Angeles Times reported Wednesday. A source with direct knowledge of the process told the newspaper the city plans to fence off the park and clear it of the homeless encampment on Thursday.
However, the Times reported the source spoke on the condition of anonymity since plans for the park closure are being “tightly held” as they could inspire protests like those Wednesday.
News of the expected closure has spurred local activists into action. Outreach workers have been working to get some of the encampment’s residents into hotels, and on Wednesday, crowds gathered at the park in protest.
Meanwhile, some local residents and others have been vocal critics of the encampment. An online petition on Change.org titled “Save Echo Park Lake” places blame on O’Farrell and Mayor Eric Garcetti for the growing number of tents pitched along the perimeter of the lake.
The petition, which has 4,724 signatures of a 5,000 goal, describes the park as “virtually unusable” and states it is “becoming Skid Row.”

Maybe the homeless should claim they are here illegally. I I heard the federal government is housing illegals in hotel rooms now.
Maybe all of these Hollywood liberals should take them in. They’ve got plenty of space in their mansions.
“How many have you taken home to live with you?”
The US government is giving more love and compassion to the illegals.
Two ways to deal with this. Snatch and grab and then to a camp.
That or, Snatch and grab and into a mental institution.
Once they have them, a 72 hour evaluation to determine if they are mentally fit or not.
Get them off the street.
“Heh heh heh, you said ‘Snatch’ heh heh heh!”
These people deserve love and compassion
Taking them to your yard? oh wait that helping thingy is for others.
These are people who are drug addicts.
I am saddened to learn that beautiful park, in which I once enjoyed so many happy hours, has been allowed to be taken over by a few, to ruin the enjoyment of the many.
They probably don’t deal with them, and are happy that they are where they are, so that they can continue not to deal with them. I’ve seen a few sweeps. They always go somewhere else, and it might be closer to home than before.
The Leftists in California CREATED the monster they now have to deal with in their attempt to bring civility, and that monster is the protesters, not the ‘homeless’, who are simply the pawns.
I wonder how far from this park full of homeless these protesters live. I’ll bet no one protesting lives within a ten-block radius of the encampment.
Once they have them, a 72 hour evaluation to determine if they are mentally fit or not.

As clear as 5150 is stated, they never qualify.
Where do you eat - garbage can - OK you have food.
Where do you live - park bench - OK you have a home.
What is your income - prostitute - OK you have a job.
I am not making this up.
Not to mention open their house to as many as can fit in, and turn over their paycheck for the benefit of the “near” sick, lame & lazy
There are literally thousands of camps like this all over LA County, you can’t drive more than a mile or two anywhere without finding one
Have some live with you, Alicia.
Oh wait, YOU DON'T WANT THEM NEAR YOU, RIGHT?
