Actually, weapons of war are in very few hands of the public in the U.S. The public has scary looking guns, but the are not weapons used by military warriors. Cartels, yes. Guns don’t kill, people do. Sometimes to prevent being killed, and more times than are reported, the guns in peoples hands minimize the carnage being done by people committing wanton murder.

Maybe a patriot who realizes the intent of the Second Amendment is to protect We the People from government tyranny. Which is why of course, those who wish to impose tyranny are trying so damned hard to take them.
the 2nd was (as well as MOST of the “Constitution”) was about thrusting off imposition to “liberty”. Here we are... 1st amendment... speak your mind (the truth) and you get silenced by the government. So now they are eying the 2nd.... We find ourselves back in the same position as the “Founding Fathers”... with a desire for “liberty”, BUT, CONFRONTED WITH DESPOTISM. They say that history doesn’t repeat itself, but it does rhyme. Well I can certainly see the rhyme.
