Wokester fanatics have turned up in many epochs of history, and all went the same way.
Wokeness is an offshoot of Christianity. So historian Tom Holland argues in Dominion: The Making of the Western Mind (2019). If he had followed his argument to its logical conclusion he would have arrived at the same conclusion I did -- that woke progressivism will crash and burn.
This is because the adherents of woke progressivism find it impossible to live up to their utopian expectations. Sooner or later the cognitive dissonance of living in a state of self-contradiction will become translated into a burning desire to punish others for not being perfect also. At that point the reactionary response will ensure their destruction.
Holland offers numerous examples of Christian sects following this pattern. One, the Taborites, were a Christian community who in 1419 established a utopian settlement outside Prague. It was a communistic society: no ranks or authority, everyone was equal, everything was shared, and the primary focus was to pay witness to Christ. Whilst claiming to be peaceful and compassionate and spreading God’s love to all, the Taborites decided that those they identified as the enemies of the Lord should be put to the sword, which they proceeded to do with great enthusiasm. Not surprisingly they provoked fear and hostility and in 1434 were decisively defeated by an army of more moderate Hussites.
But Holland does not apply this lesson from history to the woke progressives of today.

They seem to revel in doing things that are revolting to decent people. That makes me think that at some level the leftists know what they are doing.
Yet another example of how of how clueless our side is. Tom Holland is far too intelligent to make a comparison between SJW and examples of Christian “fanaticism” from the past. Such a comparison will only be made by an idiot and a moron.
The beliefs and circumstances of the Christian “fanatics” are too varied and involve too many matters of degree, obviating a valid comparison, and they were NOT the product of government direction and control.
This stupid writer, wanting to make himself look Will smart, is just a moron. He could have solely used a 100% valid comparison with the Maoist Chinese cultural revolution, which was government controlled war on political opposition and on a nation’s culture, because that is what were are getting forced upon us, Cultural Revolution, American style.
The idiot who wrote this article wants our side to think everything is well in hand, history proves it to be so. Only a moron says something like that, someone who does not have an idea of what is happening to us as our country is rapidly exterminated by the government, or someone who knows but does not want us to know.

The point being, todays lefties are mean and evil but we pseudo lefties of the sixties were just having fun.
The cases cited by the author are wholly different from what we call The Woke Left. Every religious comparison had one or more well known individuals in charge. The Woke Left are a huge number of mostly faceless, socially frustrated individuals living in their parent’s basement. They sit all day indulging in drugs and typing on the internet. The power* they are using to destroy lives didn’t even exist until recently. They attack everything and everybody. But their power comes from the fear they create in companies and institutions.
No one wanted to be the friend of the kid who got picked on for fear they too would be picked on. Thus Columbia fires a professor out of fear that if they don’t horrible things will happen to them also. A corporate board member is forced to resign for something he allegedly said ten years ago. I don’t see any of this changing. There is no person whose death would stop The Woke Left. There is no individual who can lead a reformation to destroy The Woke Left.
The Woke Left is like Jell-O. You might find a place to apply pressure, but to what effect?
* We know two things about power. It’s only fun if you use it. And, it corrupts.
The only case I know of where the Woke Left was not immediately bowed to was by the president of Mercedes. Mercedes had named a vehicle Tuareg. That was a tribe that owned slaves. But they were Muslims and the name meant “freedom.” So Mercedes must have felt they’d hit liberal sweet spot. Instead they were attacked and the immediate demand came to get rid of the name. The then president said, presumably in German, f*ck off. And, I never heard another word about it.
The Woke Left is doing what Jessie Jackson did. Bring public embarrassment until he gets paid off. Except, with The Woke Left, they don’t get paid. They’re doing it because exercising the power to destroy is fun.
This is what ticks me off about Chicken Little Conservative Journalism, this article could have easily been written when Trump was in office. They were still a threat then and we did have resources and standing to counter them. Now we have jack sh*t!
So, it’s Christianity’s fault?
There’s nothing Christian about the Left and their wokeness.
The term these days also includes anger at American elites discriminating against Asian Americans in education and jobs in the name of “Affirmative Action”.
That is the kind of bitter anger that can motivate people to fight wars.
The Democrats have “awoken a giant”.
The Democrats are dangerous idiots.
This woke movement appears to be a hybrid of bolshevism and Nazism.
They want to destroy the Bill of Rights and private property, but they still want smart phones and $5 cups of coffee.
They want elimination of logic and truth but are still objective enough to keep eating food and drive on the right side of the road.
If history is a guide wokeism will last 1-3 generations. If collectivism takes over the current street rioters will be shot.
I personally think we’re headed for the biblical apocalypse. Maybe.

10. The major premise for tactics is the development of operations that will maintain a constant pressure upon the opposition. (The hits just keep coming, don’t they!?)
So they go outside “normal” society, i.e. homo is better than hetero, ANY color is better than white, etc. Then, when people get uncomfortable with it, they ridicule them, and JUST. KEEP. THE. HITS. COMING.
Like my late Father, I believe in mercy killing. It is a good idea to think the herd and cull bad stock before it reproduces.
