Not a bow hunter, but for years I have wondered why more people do not use a crossbow.

Today, we are all confronted with the government intruding upon our freedoms so much we wonder if we could even stop it from totally taking us over, since they have all the high tech weapons.

However, I cannot help but imagine the damage a well trained gorilla group armed with these babies could inflict. Imagine fighting against a mechanized military with weapons they cannot here, nor detect.

About 10 years ago, I wrote of how during a mock navy battle, an old Swedish submarine was able to get close enough to the USS Ronald Reagan Nuclear Super Carrier to sink it. The technology has become so advanced that they have lost the ability to stop archaic weapons, which makes them more deadly that most modern weapons.

A well trained squad of hit men could take out a lot of the brass, without ever being detected until it’s too late. Even if it had to be a suicide mission, because they could be more successful getting close and possibly getting away that bigger weapons.

I got to know a middle aged Frenchman, when I was in the military stationed in Germany, in the early “70”s. He fought for the French underground against the Nazis and the Vicci government. He told me that their best weapons were the ones the Nazis laughed at as being archaic. He also said how his group put crossbows to good use. He loved them because they were quiet, and thus allowed them to get close enough to kill, and with now precision allowed them to get away.

Some of todays crossbows can be easily transported like larger rifles are in the way they can be easily be broken down.

Just something to ponder if we should ever find ourselves fighting a gorilla war against our own military as the French did in WWII.

OH, and bolts are much easier to make than bullets. Bullets will not come cheap, but crossbow bolts will take out enough troopers so one could take their weapons easily and get away undetected due to the quietness.

They're gaining approval in more states the last few years but still are legal during bow season in 25-30 states. Ten or twelve others during gun season, defeats the advantage of a longer bow season, and some others for older or disabled hunters. It's growing.
