Back when I watched baseball, I would have agreed. People who complain that "baseball is boring" or "games take too long" are not baseball fans and never will be. It is pointless IMO to pander to non-fans who are never going to become fans. And rules that lead to more stolen bases will lead to more scoring and more scoring makes the games go longer.
When I watched baseball, I liked the laid-back slower pace of the sport. Even though it's kind of a slow pace, when the game is on the line the situation can become unbelievably tense.
But I don't watch any more, so they can do what they like.
Baseball is a great game for kids to play when it is extremely hot and a big challenge to be running like in the sports.
They pander to the young hipster crowd who couldn’t care less. MLB tells guys like you and me, a fifty year fan, to take a hike. After a year of no MLB, I don’t really care anymore. I have a five year old grandson just starting T ball. That’s enough for me.
Of all of the sports I find baseball to be the most enjoyable. The fact that it takes a long time to play a game is a feature not a liability in my view. I find that it’s a great way to enjoy a summer afternoon. Gives me time to enjoy beers. Plus baseball is an extremely cerebral game combined with raw athletic talent.

batters adjusting their gloves after every pitch, and pitchers staring for 10 seconds for a sign, then stepping off the rubber, do not fall under the rubric of ‘slower pace’...
it falls under being a monstrous pain in the butt...
