JD Vance may be running for the United States Senate in Ohio. The venture capitalist and author of the autobiographical bestseller Hillbilly Elegy, now has a very well-funded Super PAC backing his potential candidacy.
According to Cinncinnati.com, “Thiel, a German-American billionaire and early investor in Facebook, gave $10 million to Protect Ohio Values, a super PAC formed last month to support Vance’s possible bid, said Bryan Lanza, a communications adviser to the super PAC.
Thiel is an interesting guy. Doesn’t speak out too much. Stanford educated. Openly gay. Incredibly smart. And he quit the Bay Area and moved to Los Angeles because he was tired of the inclusive (exclusive?) nature of bay area woke-thought.
Is this guy running as a Republican? Sorry...don’t see a mention of it here.
“Openly gay.”
I just hope he doesn’t also go tribal on us, as our last great hope did (can’t remember his name, worked for Trump).
Even more important—as a Trump supporter!?
I don’t know too much about him. He generally keeps his private life to himself but when you’re an internet billionaire some media scrutiny into your life is impossible to avoid. Celebrity culture. Personally I don’t care how he lives his private life and he doesn’t strike me as the type of person who would care about anybody else’s private life either. From what I have read and heard from him he is a logical, solutions oriented person.
Republican....
They figured Loeffer could keep us the senate seat because of her money. Hope this is not the same. I’d prefer a lot of small donations to one big one like the rats are known to do.
Yes from what I read before he is running for the GOP nomination for US Senate in Ohio. His PAC is also backed by the Mercer family which were big Trump supporters in 2016. Mercer family was involved in that whole “cambridge analytica” thing; which probably wasn’t a thing at all except that it hoisted the left on their own petard using social media data to advantage their candidate instead over the left’s candidates.
That would be good. The last guy, Trump’s guy, who seemed really good, attacked someone who had a problem with boys using girls’ locker rooms...saying that opposing that (again, boys using girls locker rooms) is anti-gay.
We could do quite well without those attacks.
Any more, we have to ask “Is the Republican a Conservative?” as well.
Funny if you search JD Vance’s name all the top results are about Thiel’s donation to his PAC. I guess that will pass in time and we can learn more about Vance’s positions on political topics.
His wife clerked for Kavanaugh and Roberts. May or May not be a reason for concern.
regarding the gay aspect, according to wikipedia - FWIW - doesn’t seem to be gay. Quite the opposite - it seems...
...
Richard Grenell.
Not everything is as it seems. Though try explaining that to the cancel culture club.
Anyway, he’s married to a man, so I think that qualifies as gay. Though really it’s none of my business and I’m way more interested in what people do to better the country, themselves others than I am about his home life. I just mentioned it because it only adds to the mystery. He doesn’t seem to be the stereotype of any label people want to put on him.
from Wiki -
Vance is married to one of his former law school classmates, Usha Chilukuri, an Indian-American woman who was a law clerk to Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts during the 2017–18 term and clerked for then-Judge Brett Kavanaugh in 2014–15.[27] They have two sons, including Ewan.[28]
In August 2019, Vance converted to Catholicism in Cincinnati, Ohio,[29] in a baptism ceremony attended by various conservatives, including Rod Dreher. In an interview with Dreher after the ceremony, Vance said he converted because he “became persuaded over time that Catholicism was true,” and described Catholic doctrine’s influence on his political views.[30]
LOL. I was talking about Thiel, not Vance. :-)
