"You look like Marvin Haggler. I LOST MONEY ON HAGGLER!"
Saw him box the Provincetown police force in 1978. Before he went pro. Young kid got his autograph.. big deal. RIP One of a kind.
Marvelous Marvin Hagler was a great boxer, and with an excellent reputation as a man. Rest in peace.
And Leon Spinks just died this past Feb. 5 at the age of 67......
Brockton fella. Smart guy, too.
Detroit’s Tommy The Hitman Hearns & Marvelouls Marvin Hagler were classics.
Condolences to family and friends of Marvin Hagler. R.I.P., sir. Thanks. love.
from the golden age of boxing..1980’s...
***************
Boxing had a great run back then. So many great personalities in so many weight classes. What a privilege it was watching such exciting bouts.
I was watching Hagler getting his @$$ beat by a guy till Marvin thumbed him in the eye.
Glory scoffs at longevity...

So true. That’s a quote for the ages.
Well said my FRiend.
it really was a privilege...so glad i saw it all. The 1980’s were easily the best decade of my life....and boxing was a big part of it. Not to mention a GREAT PRESIDENT... great music...great money...great base ball..great hockey. And, especially, hott women who weren’t mad that they were women. Now, they all wanna be men....
I haven’t cried in a long time. RIP Marvelous Marvin.
What about Gene Fulmer and Benny Kid Paret?
Gerry Cooney? Of course! My particular favorites were Pernell “Sweet Pea” Whittaker and that American Indian fellow who was adopted by a white couple in the Dakotas and went on to become a boxing phenom. Alas I always forget his name . . .
Fantastic era for music. Over the top theatrics from the glam/hair bands but the technical playing was off the charts good.
Seems like we’ve peaked as a nation. The sense of individual freedom, competition, innovation and pride in the country is no longer there. The Left has systematically suffocated us.
People used to say that Hagler had muscles in his head and his neck . A seriously well conditioned man.
no question about it...this place is almost unrecognizable now....above all, $30 trillion in debt....so glad im not in my 20’s now. Hate to say it...darker days ahead.
.
Massachusetts[Brockton] has produced two of the all time greats and my favs: Rocky Marciano and Marvelous Marvin Hagler.
The US Army measured Muhammad Ali’s IQ at 78.
for anybody interested..this is a great documentary of Hagler- Hearns....
