Right now in the middle of March no CDC go ahead with test voyages yet, so no sailing until mid June if the go ahead is given today.
The indifferent CDC, now emboldened with the Biden group in political power has no reason to rush this approval for test voyages. Only time will tell. -Tom
I booked a Las Vegas cruise with Carl’s Cruise Line out of Oxnard, CA.
Great chocolate buffet, I hear.
Let me know if you want to be on or off my cruise ping list. -Tom
That's rtight ... ity all started from a cruise liner gatting sick people and staying off shore.
Do you think there are more democrats or republicans who cruise? I ask because if more democrats want to cruise, will that speed things up?
I don’t see why anyone will want to be OFF your ping list, Capt. Tom
You supply very good info and often on cruises.
The same is true with Caribbean islands like the Grand Cayman's, or Jamaica, or Cozumel.
If these ports don't reopen, then the United States will remain shut out.
-PJ
I am looking at booking cruise out of Panama city in November.
You supply very good info and often on cruises.
Thank you.
Some people just get worn out by cruise delays, and our CDC, and politicians, and want a break.
Also things change in their lives and they don't need any distractions.
There are lots of other reasons pro and con for wanting to be on or off a ping list. - Tom
Yes, but good luck getting to a buffet.
Which is the real cause of the anniversary...the lockdowns...
the Wu Hu Flu has been here since 2019 which is why theres a 19 in the official name...
Meanwhile if we want to cruise we have to go to Europe...MSC has 7 day cruises out of Italy ....Civitavecchia and Genoa...dirt cheap...
You can take cruises out of the US without needing to go to those ports...Eastern and Southern Caribbean cruises dont stop at any of them...theres plenty of lovely islands further east of those you mentioned...I dont like Cozumel anyway...Prefer the Eastern Caribe to the West...
Alaska cruises will be going out of Seattle until Vancouver opens again...
I got back to Port Canaveral from my last cruise on Feb 29...I did B2B on the Breeze...
Looking forward to my next cruises in Europe in Oct little did I suspect they werent to be...
They were cancelled April 1...
The surprise is how well the stocks are doing. Carnival, from a 12 month low of under $8 to a current $28.46.
Most people I meet on cruises are Christians and conservatives...lots of veterans...
Please add me to your ping list.
Personally, I’m really frustrated that the cruise lines don’t make any effort to let you know what’s going on. We rescheduled a Danube cruise for this June on Viking. It ends in Passau, Germany. I’ve read that Germany is going to require a vaccine, which means I’m not going. Also, we were going to stay in Prague afterwards, but Americans can’t travel there for the time being, either. Should I just go ahead & cancel or wait for them to send a notice?
But aren't foreign-flagged ships prevented from going directly from Seattle to Anchorage, Juneau, or Skagway, without stopping at least once in a non-USA port?
With Canada closed, what foreign port will satisfy the requirement?
RE: the Caribbean, I should have mentioned that I prefer to sail out of Galveston, which makes the southern Caribbean islands out of reach for me unless I'm willing to fly to Florida first.
-PJ
The cruise lines will require in most cases a 90 day in advance of the trip, full payment. You don't have much time.
If I personally was going to spend more time over there which you appear to want to do, I would cancel the trip before the Line gets my money and I have to deal with getting a refund. June is not that far away, and countries keep changing the rules on Covid-19.(as do the cruise lines)
Others may feel differently from me about cancelling your June trip. -Tom
Ive been to the Eastern and Southern out of Galveston..2015 11 days....we went as far south as Aruba and East to St Maarten...end in San Juan...then 10 days back St Thomas etc
Theres a 14 day from Galveston in Jan 2023 on the Carnival Dream...Key West Amber Cove San Juan St. Thomas St. Kitts St. Maarten St. Croix Montego Bay...
