So could this prevent Appaloosa horses from going blind? I see so many of them on pet rescue pages, virtually all of them blind from uveitis.
is there a simple blood test for this disorder?
I keep getting something. Tested negative for viral pink eye.
I would expect the supplement is harmless to most animals, but it would be best to check with a vet.
It’s interesting you mentioned large animals, because you can buy this in bulk:
https://purebulk.com/products/benfotiamine
An eye exam might find it, depending on the form:
https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/uveitis/symptoms-causes/syc-20378734
It is also used for diabetic retinopathy, neuropathy, and nephropathy and for Alzheimer’s.
It is a B vitamin, but in many countries, it is sold as a drug.
here are some blood tests..which cover a lot of things
https://www.reviewofoptometry.com/article/practical-pearls-for-managing-anterior-uveitis
in my recent hellish experience of dealing with medical profession somehow I doubt whatever eye doctor I choose would be willing to do those tests
Heck, I just had a idiot dermatologist tell me psoriasis has nothing to do with the immune system.
Sometimes it is cheaper to just order the tests you want from Directlabs.
But next time I get it I guess I will head to the eye doctor. One of those fast clinics just gave me some kind of antibiotic
Oh wow it's a thiamine prolog. I'll be getting some of this.
My wife and I have both ordered from Direct Labs.
You can know more than your doctors, if you keep up on the new information that wasn’t taught in school to them.
Yep. There are coupon codes that float around. I think I usually find them at www.retailmenot.com
Also worth noting…
“Thiamine in its fat-soluble form (benfotiamine) is literally curing Alzheimer’s disease as evidenced in brain scans.”
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/27696179/
Also, macular degeneration…
https://knowledgeofhealth.com/ignored-vitamin-cure-for-macular-degeneration/
life extension has it. i use them for some stuff
https://www.lifeextension.com/search#q=benfotiamine&t=coveo4A2453FD
I did see where it could raise blood pressure but didnt click on the info so need to go back and loo
Now if they can only do something to reverse glaucoma...
I wish there was something for dog cataracts.
:(
NOTE:
“ Magnesium is an essential co-factor with thiamine. The lack of magnesium may render supplemental thiamine useless.”
