My friends are belatedly realizing that the turmoil was not created by Donald Trump. It was manufactured by the Democrats, simply to win an election.
Now that the implications of the Harris/Biden administration are setting in, my Democrat friends (yes, I do have a few) are becoming very embarrassed. They bought into the propaganda that all the turmoil in Washington was created by the erratic and immoral behavior of Donald Trump. Their vote for Harris/Biden was a vote to return to normal. They didn’t realize that the Democrats weren’t offering a return to normal, they were offering the establishment of a “new normal.”
The “new normal” includes restricted energy exploration and cancellation of the Keystone XL pipeline. This has caused a loss of well-paying union jobs, damaged relations with Canada, and triggered skyrocketing gasoline prices. It also threatens to return us to dependence on the most unstable region in the world. To those who would like us to leave the Middle East to resolve its own problems -- we can’t now.
We’ve implemented more “humane” immigration policies, creating a flood of illegal immigrants across the border -- wearing “Biden” t-shirts. Our humane policy has given us men, women, and children sacrificing their lives pursuing the dream promised them by the Democrats. Thankfully, we’re no longer keeping illegal immigrant children in cages. Now we’re keeping them in Conex boxes. I guess we can feel good about that.

I used to have friends that would vote Democrat. They are now mere acquaintances...ones I seldom converse with.
There is a mistaken belief that the “new normal” is here to stay, and that this is the result of “progress”. The fact is, command-and-control regimes were very much the OLD “normal” for most of human history, from tribal government on down, “strongman rule” was even an hereditary thing in many instances. There had been brief outbreaks of “democratic” government, but these do not last.
“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world’s greatest civilizations has been 200 years. These nations have progressed through this sequence: From bondage to spiritual faith; From spiritual faith to great courage; From courage to liberty; From liberty to abundance; From abundance to selfishness; From selfishness to apathy; From apathy to dependence; From dependence back into bondage.”
― Alexander Fraser Tytler
Only with the Enlightenment that followed the Dark Ages that fell upon Europe after the fall of the Roman Empire, did the germ of the idea of what became the Great American Experiment take root and thrive, brightly, for the few centuries it has.
Institution of the recognition of the God-given rights to life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness (which is code for rights to property ownership), as set forth in the Declaration of Independence and more particularly enumerated in the words and interpretation of the Constitution of the United States of America, were the framework under which the Great American Experiment was carried out. The representative republic, and the federation of the several states that made up this republic, designed to be responsive to the collective will of its informed citizens through free and fair elections, functioned quite admirably for most of two centuries.
But of late, it has become almost fashionable to derogate and demean that carefully balanced expression of national will, trying to “improve” the machinery of government, to make it more “efficient”. Citizens no longer had to be informed, that principle was discarded in favor of indoctrination and news manipulation. Choices were restricted through heavy regulation and a tax code that was directed much more at achieving a specific outcome than for the revenue necessary to fund the basic and defined functions of government, while simultaneously expanding government control into areas where it had never been considered.
One of the outcomes of this drift away from the original intent of the Great American Experiment may very well result in a system where the FORMS of participatory government are still there, but cloaked in an all-encompassing regime that no longer recognizes or respects the individuality that created one of the great golden ages of mankind. Just can’t stand prosperity, the drive is on to introduce adversity at every level and in as many venues as can be achieved.
The American Dream can be restored, but it shall take a massive determination on the part of those who believe in the words of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States. At the moment, two nations exist in parallel within the territory commonly known as “the United States of America”, one, the “red” nation, a nearly contiguous stretch from north to south and encompassing most of what is considered to be “middle America”, and another consisting of many scattered enclaves, the “blue” nation. The “red” nation is defined not by state lines, but by Congressional districts, with individual counties in nearly every state being “red”, and large stretches where there is no “blue” representation at all. The “blue” enclaves tend to be highly concentrated population centers, localities with vast disparities in income levels and social classes, with onerous taxation and micromanagement of virtually every aspect of life, except when it comes to controlling criminal behavior. Curiously enough, most forms of criminal activity are tolerated, with either little prosecution of all but the most egregious of crimes, or relatively light sentencing when the perpetrator is actually caught, indicted, tried and fonud guilty.

> These are horrible, morally bankrupt people who will believe that they can alter reality by bullying people into repeating their lies until they are accepted as truth. <
That certainly applies to the Democrat leadership. But to what extent does it apply to the average Democrat voter? Not as much, I would say.
Propaganda works. Yes, some “average” Democrats really are morally bankrupt. But many more are victims of an unrelenting leftist propaganda machine. I think it’s important to make that distinction. Because Democrats in that latter group can be reached. It won’t be easy at all, but it can be done. Reagan did it. And Trump did it.
I agree with your thoughts.
All the leftists I talk to seem pleased.
Well you will be a slave first then killed so they won’t mind for quite a while.
John Green is making up out of whole cloth these regretful Demoncrat friends.
And be sure to read the comments if you get the opportunity.
Reagan did it. And Trump did it.”””
Those veins have been mined to exhaustion. Anyone left isn’t gold, they’re assholes. Plain and simple. These living breathing pieces of shit will die yelling “When comrade chairman learns of this...!”
"After all, you wouldn't want Snowball to come back, would you?" (Squeeler, "Animal Farm").
They are still "getting mileage" out of hate towards President Trump. When that peters out, they will switch to hatred towards White generally.
Regards,
If you don’t talk about politics, you can have friends based on your personal relationships with each other, as long as all involved are basically decent people.
The article is bull crap. It’s impossible to embarrass a Demolishcrat.
I agree with you in that there are no Reagan or Trump types in the GOP today - except for maybe Rand Paul.
But here’s the thing. You never know who’s going to show up out of nowhere. For example, Trump showed up out of nowhere, and he took the country by storm.
So there will be another Reagan, and there will be another Trump. But whomever it is, he/she will be in for one hell of a fight. And that’s only because the mainstream media is no longer a neutral observer.
“I have always wondered how someone can have Democrats as friends in this day and age.”
Didn’t use to be that way. Then along came Obama.
Democrats (progressives) will NOT admit they are/were wrong. Never.
It’s a hallmark of progressives, along with:
Hypocrisy.
Narcissism.
Bigotry.
Sexuality obsession.
Egotism.
Intellectual immaturity.
Deceitfulness.
Emotionalism.
Meanness.
Ignorance.
Unintended negative consequences to themselves.
They are adult children, stuck intellectually in adolescence.
Leftists will readily become snitches for Big Brother. Schools have been teaching children to snitch for years now. “See something, say something” was a precursor.
I have turned away from some D acquaintances, one an old friend, but only after they first demeaningly jabbed at my conservatism.
Rabies.
Or worse...
