Following the end of GOV Abbott's mandate, the local school district here in Comal County, TX (Comal ISD), has voted to make masks in the classroom optional. The School Board voted 5-2 for this measure. The blow-back against the board has impacted me personally -- I'll leave it at that.
At any rate, the leftists started a petition at Change.org to reverse this decision. In response, a petition was started to show support for the board.
As of this writing, the pro-mask mandate is ahead 2,065 to 563 (they did have a head-start).
These numbers certainly don't reflect the local demographics, nor are they helping the morale of the board.

Why should the board listen to anyone not eligible to vote for them?

So sick and tired of the mask hysteria.
I “forget” to wear my mask and now, no one bothers me about it. They used to, but not anymore.
We have the power to ignore this crap. Except if you own a small business, restaurant, etc.
When I walk outside, in the sun, I don’t wear masks. But I have one in my pocket and put it on if I am approaching someone who is wearing a mask. I figure that they’ll be freaked out if I don’t.
The petition carries no authority with the board, and the vote has already taken place. This is just about letting them know that they aren't the only ones that can play these "optics" games. The local news last night only spoke to one side, saying "the petition already has over 1,000 signatures".
