Movie theaters in Los Angeles could reopen at limited capacity as soon as Saturday, California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) said at a press conference on Wednesday.
“Southern California, you will be a beneficiary of this, specifically L.A. will be a big beneficiary of this new metric that likely will be met on Friday,” Newsom said. “Moving through the weekend into next week you will see more activity, more loosening of the tiers.”
Once these guidelines for reopening are met, theaters will officially be permitted to open and operate at 25 percent capacity or 100 people, whichever is less, Variety reported. Gyms and indoor dining, at limited capacity, will also be given the green light to reopen, Variety noted.
Newsom's announcement comes as he faces a well-funded recall effort in California over his handling of the coronavirus. On Sunday, the group leading the charge said they have collected enough signatures to trigger a special election this year.

With those numbers allowed, this is Gruesome Newsome’s pitch for the porn theaters.
If California and other “Orange Man Bad” states had implemented the following changes to their respective constitutions, then new governors would possibly have started opening such states earlier than this.
State constitutions need to be amended to put time limits on lockdowns and on the mandatory wearing of masks.
State constitutions also need to be amended to make state health and environmental protection officials elected by popular vote.
Constitutionally time-limited lockdowns and limited mask requirements need to automatically trigger special recall elections for governors, mayors and disaster officials who order lockdowns and mask wearing, also state lawmakers.
Finally, constitutions need to require people planning to run for state and local offices to escrow a refundable "recall deposit" before becoming a candidate, the deposit fully paying in advance for their possible recall elections if they are elected, amounts determined by law.

So the theaters will now have to pay the expenses of staffing and keeping the lights on, popcorn popping, etc, but they can’t even hope to get enough customers to cover those expenses even if there is a blockbuster movie out that isn’t available on the streaming services already.
