I'd be "Glad" about that :)
Bob Segar and the Silver Bullet Band...
The Cars...
Saw both of them live (Segar twice) about a hundred years ago...
Seger no Segar..
Stupid ipad...
I saw Buffett at University of Southern Mississippi in 1975. Tickets were $5.
Already saw most of them.
Moody Blues
Saw Aerosmith at Genesee Community College in a gym with maybe 100 people. I could and did walk right up to the stage (raised platform).
Dream On was a YUGE hit already, but they must have had contractual obligations to finish.
I can’t recount the entire experience as some of that memory is “cloudy”, a bunch of colors and stuff....
It was even more amazing to actual be there - not to mention all the rest of the show - hard to imagine now - makes me sad she’s gone - Great movie about her - Janis, Little Girls Blue.
Cream is meant to be played on Gibson guitars through massive 100 watt Marshall stacks. Instead, Clapton employed his Stratocaster and a pittance of small Fender combo amps, the gear lineup he's been using for much of his post-Cream career.
He didn't even bother using a wah pedal for the White Room solo. WTF Eric?
Clapton and Jack Bruce discussed bringing the old refrigerator-sized Marshalls out of retirement for the reunion but decided against it. They'd grown too comfortable over the years with their smaller amps. Sad.
Just for the record BD, every band except those who never escaped the boundary of general obscurity are available on You tube.
Even obscure performances of musical groups are often available
Stone Roses in 1989.
That was probably the Four Acres. I never actually attended a show there, but I heard several live broadcasts on WOUR in the late 70s. Horslips, Johnny Cougar (later Mellencamp), and Renaissance, I think, were among them.
No others like him, not before nor since.
Obviously.
Moody Blues
Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass
This is hard for me, because there are lots of artists I never got to see, but the focus wasn’t “bands.” If I had to choose a “band,” it would be Otis Redding with whatever band he was working with, Booker T or Bar-Kays, whoever. Just tip top.
Did you by chance ever see Michael Hedges? I found him just a few years back thanks to youtube. I would have loved to see him live.
Brother I believe you are right. Name sounds so familiar. I was going to Mohawk Valley CC in Utica while dad was stationed at Griffiss AFB in Rome. It was located off a main highway along the way.
FR is a tremendous resource.
Al Jolson
Man you heard some really great stuff!
Led Zeppelin
