What Makes This Song Great?
I don’t fall for Rick Rolls.
This is Beato, not Astley. :D
Wait a minute. That grandpa looking guy was only in 7th grade when that album came out?
Not a Rick Roll— Beato is a cool musician. These videos are great. Click....if you dare!
(Nevah gonna give you up!)
Just kidding— worth your time.
One of his best episodes.
I used to like Beato, but now I think he just talks to much and likes to show off his own musical skills.
That grandpa looking guy is my age. Respect your elders or I’ll put a knot on your head with my cane. 😜
It’s all right but it relies too heavily on the vocoder. It impressed the hell out of me the first time I heard it but after the millionth time, it had lost its mojo.
Of course, its just...was in college myself at the time.
The device used in this song came and went faster than Rick Astley’s career. It’s a great guitar riff and solid guitar solo, and perhaps was the best use of the device for a smoked out audience. But it does get old fast.
I saw another Rick Beato video where he ranted about The Cars publisher or music label reporting him to YouTube for copyright violations. He has been demonetized by a lot of publishers/labels even though I would consider it fair use - but that was the first time he got a “red flag”. And if he contested the fair use or red flag and lost he could be stripped of his entire channel.
Oh, you got about five years on me then. *chuckle*
One of those guys is Peter Frampton.
But the fellow I thought was Pete has a British accent.
That can’t be right!
:SHOCK::
You mean to tell me Peter is from ‘over there’?
I never knew that till now.
Thanks! I’ve been waiting for EP 100 for a while!
A bit of both of that is true, but it's obvious to me that he really enjoys music. His enthusiasm is infectious. I've listened to the entire series of WMTSG, and don't always agree with his choices, but I can see and appreciate the things in those songs that he's enthusiastic about.
I really didn’t need to know that I was a Navy Musician (and a pro for over six years) when Rick was in seventh grade. Gosh, I thought getting old would take longer.
I was a fan of this artist when he fronted the Herd and Humble Pie and especially liked the “Winds of Change” solo album (still do) - so, by the time this live “party” album came out and made him a big star I was burned out on all the recycled material and I sort’a resented that I’d been listening to this overnight sensation for a decade. 🥁
