A 7-Eleven in SF has permanently closed

The 7-Eleven located at the corner of Noe and 18th streets has permanently closed as of March 4, reports Hoodline, and residents are keen on seeing a new business take its place.

Over the years, the Castro District convenience store was the subject of frequent contention among customers and employees alike, who complained of frequent shoplifting, loitering, and lack of cleanliness, as well as fear for their safety.

It’s been a tough year for many small businesses across the neighborhood that have also been blighted by theft as well as widespread vandalism. According to a survey issued by the Castro District Merchants Association in February, local storefronts reported 72 incidents of vandalized and broken windows since January 2020, costing over $135,472.74.

The Walgreens at 18th and Castro – just two blocks away from the now-shuttered 7-Eleven – reported 11 broken windows in total.

Good! It shows that the Democrat voters and the Democrat plan to destroy the economy and the United States along with getting $40.00 a gallon gas is working. Let then starve to death. For as long as it them to starve to death, they will be in Democrat heaven. At least they will die happy. Or satisfied. They obeyed their Democrat Masters.

I used to go there for their grab and go sandwiches. A good island family ran it. The Castro district was the pride of the gays. They’re leftists so they’re unlikely to stand up for their neighborhood.

Why would a business move into an a building that was constantly vandalized and shoplifting was rampant? It will be vacant.

There’s another way “to get around this” ... a highly-effective, traditional way: Enforce the law or if the law has been removed or suspended, re-activate it, then enforce it. Make the “cost” of the committing the crime higher than the “benefit” derived by doing it ... the only way to maintain order in an increasingly immoral society.

You do know we are talking about California here.

There is no law to enforce. The state has set the bar so high that the most anyone can get for shoplifting is a citation to appear (which is also not enforced).

Law and order will not return until the voters rid themselves of liberal politicians and that is almost impossible because the Democrats are the ones that count the ballots.

They waste a lot of money overpaying for inferior convenience.

I have plenty of money but I almost never go into a convenience store because it's just not good value and not very convenient at all. Everything is way overpriced and 99% of the food offerings are bad for you anyhow. I wonder if they still have those hotdog warmers, like pictured below. Those things always grossed me out. The food could have been rolling around on those for days - who would know?

In my area in NJ as the real economy disappears it would be vape shop, tattoo parlor, or combination of both...

You forgot the Bail Bonds shop. Of course the left has ruined it so bad, even Pawn Shops won't go there.

First we would need an opposition party that was willing to fight both in the media, the legislature and the courts. The Republican Party is AWOL.

The average California has been made powerless both by the law and the CANCEL CULTURE. Anyone that stands up is instantly demonize with one of their pet charges - racism, sexism, hate children and so on.

When the media is acting more like a lap dog then an guard dog for the people there is little left...but move out of the state (which is what I think they want).

No bail bonds shop - no bail anymore for most offenders.

We did get our first pawn shop a few years back...
