In July of 2020 it was quite clear that large concert halls were going to be closed well into 2021 if not 2022.
The chicks are the ones canceling their tour and the insurance underwriter is right to dispute the claim.
If a band insures a venue/date for a concert and THEN there are closures that one thing (beyond their control). The band took out insurance knowing that venues were closed. It seems fraudulent to me. The Producers II.
Some are more "in this together" than others.
they really called it The Gaslighter Tour?!?!
I like old Dixie Chicks stuff but how is it better to drop Dixie and refer to themselves as The Chicks? Seems misogynistic to me. I guess it’s better to be misogynistic than racist these days.....
So that’s what caused the pandemic!
Just to ruin the Dixie Chicks Tour and comeback! (almost worth it /s)
The “Chixie Dicks”.
I thought this was about Chik Fil A
The “Gaslighter Tour”.
How appropriate.
Isn’t “chicks” an archaic, sexist term for women? Kind of like “tomato.”
The Dixie Chicks “Gaslighter” Tour - 2021
A Bialystock and Bloom production.
Here's the Complaint PDF.
Here's the wiki on "Gaslighter", a collection of Natalie's best bottom burps:
Release and promotion"The album was announced on March 4, 2020, with a scheduled release date of May 1. On April 21, the release was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. On June 11, the album's release was rescheduled for July 17."
So they had the album done just before shutdown. They went ahead and released the lead single March 4 (it bombed), and then later kicked the album release down the road when it wasn't clear what would happen after the shutdown ended.
There is no way a tour - even these biotches - is planned after a release of a lead single from an established C&W BroHo band. It just doesn't happen that way. They're with LiveNation -- LN takes care of much of the arena planning, probably just after the holidays when the first cases were breaking out near Seattle: "Hey Tunashoe, here are these dates here, here, and here. Release your single, release the album, and get on the road."
LiveNation was the one who called the hold on tours:
" Live Nation will re-evaluate the situation at the beginning of April (2020) with the goal of resuming touring in May or June.Tours affected include Billie Eilish, Jason Aldean, Zac Brown Band, Cher, Kiss, Post Malone, Tool, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Chris Stapleton and many others."
The only payor who has defaulted is WRB.
I'm surprised there were 48 venues who were interested. I mean, was anyone crying out for a return of the Dixie Chicks?!
they should be called the dixie idiots, they knew well before the July release that a tour was stupid to consider. They are just greedy. considering they are in much better financial situations than many other people they are showing just how selfish and uncaring they can be. Any possible monies they would get from this ridiculous pursuit would be in long run hurting other people thru their insurances going up. IF ANYTHING they should file against Fauci and Dems who perpetrated and prolonged this baloney shut down etc stuff.
Vicar It's about this letter you sent me regarding my insurance claim. They shouldn't have bought the Neverpay policy.Devious Oh, yeah, yeah - well, you see, it's just that we're not...as yet...totally satisfied with the grounds of your claim.
Vicar But it says something about filling my mouth in with cement.
Devious Oh well, that's just insurance jargon, you know.
Vicar But my car was hit by a lorry while standing in the garage and you refuse to pay my claim.
Devious (rising and crossing to a filing cabinet) Oh well, reverend Morrison...in your policy...in your policy...(he open the drawer of the filing cabinet and takes out a shabby old sports jacket; he feels in the pocket and pulls out a crumbled dog-eared piece of paper then puts the coat back and shuts the filing cabinet)...here we are. It states quite clearly that no claim you make will be paid.
Vicar Oh dear.
Devious You see, you unfortunately plumped for our 'Neverpay' policy, which, you know, if you never claim is very worthwhile...but you had to claim, and, well, there it is.
Vicar Oh dear, oh dear.
Seriously though, this is strictly a contract issue over whether the policy covers "cancellation due to world wide pandemic". Although I don't have any love for the Dixie Chunks, the insurance industry is one of the most weasel filled collections of humanity ever gathered together.
Seems like the Covid crisis and related government prohibitions of large gatherings constitute a little old thang called force majeure. Insurance policy almost certainly has a force majeure clause. So sad.
act of God clause
not to mention, there was nobody to attend, so no ticket sales. They might as well sue the individual cities for not forcing people to attend for as far as they will get in this lawsuit.
