Methinks it was in the wild either by accident or design by early 2019 because my wife came down with classical symptoms in the Jan/Feb 2019 time frame.

Persistent dry unproductive cough. Loss of smell and taste, fever, fatigue etc. She thought it was a cold or minor flu and commented about the strange loss of smell AND taste. It self resolved although pertussis like symptoms persisted for around 3 additional weeks and she had to use steroidal inhalants to resolve.

I followed around 10-12 days after the onset of her symptoms although it was just 5-6 days of a what seemed like the start of a cold then I shook it off. All this was long before Covid was a thing in the news. In retrospect I believe we had it and would test positive for antibodies.

No one was testing for it at the time because “covid” wasn't a thing yet. I believe I have partial natural immunity as in previous times when my wife got something I followed with similar symptoms and duration.

Small town in Tennessee. Got tested when everyone else at work tested positive. Pretty much asymptomatic. I got a ten day vacation/quarantine when I tested positive. PCR test. I’m 67.

I think I (and my BIL) got it in Israel in late October 2019. Felt horrible on the flight back. Reached Philly and started the hot toddies. Was tired for several weeks.

Mom almost died of it that November (sepsis, pneumonia). She got COVID again a couple of months ago...but less severe. She’s 89.

About 9% of those signify actual deaths from COVID.

The rest are motorcycle accidents, cancer and even gunshot wounds of people who had tested positive.

Major BS going on. My county corner raised hell after two people who died of gunshot wounds were recorded as COVID deaths. State agreed to remove them from the list.

Yes, and that is why I wrote WITH covid-19 and not FROM covid-19.

Most of the older folks who died with covid-19 already had multiple comorbidities, so probably were ripe for death anyways. Covid-19 being 10 time more contagious than flu, even though covid-19 is not a serious disease, it finished them off.

Tested positive on Ash Wednesday and admitted to hospital with respiratory problems on Thursday (which I never have) and still here. It turned into pneumonia in both lungs and on a high flow respirator. Was at 100% oxygen till a few days ago and now slowly but surely getting better.

Our Jewish sister-in-law sent over a half gallon of chicken soup; I’m sure that was the cure!

LOL! The Jewish cure-all for everything. That said, I did pickup four cans of the fancy chickensoup but I'm sure it's not the same :)

The reason to kill the best economy in history of world was very simple...only way to defeat Trump. And Trump did not help the matters by saying covid-19 was a piece of cake after he recovered quickly. Many uninformed people are scared of covid and were turned off by his comments.

Were you vaccinated prior to testing positive?

Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

That's what concerns me are the respiratory issues :( Prayers for you and get better soon! Glad to see you are able to enjoy FR while you recuperate!

“dry unproductive cough. Loss of smell and taste” those were my exact symptoms after returning from Carnical cruise on February 29, 2020. The cough got better on its own in 2 weeks. At that time covid was not much in news so never thought about it.

Your symptoms were not typical of covid-19. Probably was just the flu or cold. Covid will give you dry cough more than productive cough. That is what I had after a cruise last year.

BTW: long term consequences:
I have occasional brief chest aches.
Wife has new foot circulation issues.
And no place will recognize some people had it and aren’t contagious.

My brother died from it this past Tuesday. He first caught it in mid-December and was on a ventilator starting in January.

He was first diagnosed as “mild,” but went downhill from the second week.

Our neighbors, a couple around 70, had same experience as you and your wife, except both tested positive.

Have you ever had any surgeries? They would have taken one then in case of needing a transfusion. That is unless you told them you would not accept a transfusion.

I had it over New Years, but didn't find out until I took antibody test a month later. Body aches, sinus problems and cough. Complete loss of sense of smell for about a week. Some diarrhea. No real fever. Some lingering problems with shortness of breath, but I was back out driving around and working in just a few days.

It felt like a bad cold, but not as bad as typical influenza. I take a lot of vitamins, especially D, so that probably blunted the effect. My wife had it before I did and had big head and body aches for a few days, but nothing more. I didn't develop symptoms until almost two weeks after she did, so I question how much person-to-person spread there really is. I've always suspected contaminated surfaces are the more likely source for most infections.

I can see where an overweight, out-of-shape diabetic might have real problems with COVID - so those people should lock themselves down and government should leave the rest of us alone..

I have a friend whose husband got covid, when
she got tested her results came back negative.
However, she did have a slight temperature and
a headache, so we told her she probably had it.
Forgot to ask her if she tested before she started
having symptoms. My nephew got covid, his wife
had a sore throat, her test came back inconclusive.

For Christmas we had a group of about 14, 2 had
already had covid...The day after we got together,
one of the individuals started having a headache,
by the Monday, she went to get tested and tested
positive for covid...The rest of the family did not
get sick, except for the person who lives with her.

I have another relative who had visitors over the night
before he started getting sick, for him, it started
with a sore throat in the morning when he woke up..
None of his visitors got sick.

I know of people who got sick with covid but initially
did not think it was covid, so they went about their
normal business...I think it’s the ones who start feeling
sick yet go about their normal routine who are more likely
to spread covid, not so much the people who have yet to have symptoms.

My family had it in July....my wife had it in January we think

Her symptoms were worse

Flu like
Very tired
Loss of taste and smell
Difficulty breathing

Tiredness was worse

It lasted two full weeks but she never tested positive for flu after two tests

My boys had same but varying severity...from nothing to moderate

My son in law same but slightly more severe

At biz associate same...but fairly mild

Lasted one week for him....got better when I dosed him chloroquine and z pak and zinc liquid....putrid stuff

My elderly aunt and uncle in Texas had it and ...85 and 86....she was ok ...he was very sick....for 3-4 weeks but got all the meds including what I sent and he lived

My 96 year old uncle in Mississippi died from it

As did my 94 year old mother in law

Alone...it was medieval and I blame media and stupid pussy ass medical people

Last week I met with a lady whose husband had been on chemo for lymphoma and got it and died in short order even after being given every known treatment

Alone....on zoom...semi conscious...in July

Again the ignorance and depravity of that infuriates me

Me...I’m not sure...i never caught it from my wife and had a some serious congestion and weird feelings when my kids were sick but I don’t know...i was tested in the hospital three weeks ago and was neg

The loss of taste is the tell tale symptom it seems
