Like other modern cars and trucks, the Genesis GV80 that Woods was driving when he crashed was equipped with an electronic data recorder...
Vehicles in the Genesis line — Hyundai’s luxury brand — for example, also feature artificial intelligence software that keeps a watchful eye, sending alerts if it detects the driver is distracted or closes his or her eyes while driving.
...Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department executed a search warrant this week to retrieve the data contained on the SUV’s computers. Information on how fast Woods was going, whether he ever hit the brakes, and other clues could be critical to reconstructing the the crash that left the 45-year-old Woods’ golfing future in limbo.
Woods told investigators he has no recollection of what happened. In the hours after the crash, as Woods underwent surgery at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center to have pins and rods inserted into his shattered lower right leg, sheriff’s investigators did not seek a warrant needed to run toxicology reports to see if Woods was drunk or under the influence of drugs.
According to a source not authorized to discuss the probe, investigators seeking the warrant cited a lack of skid marks or other signs of braking as the reason the data are needed to determine why the vehicle careened through a Rolling Hills Estates sign and across opposing traffic before hitting a curb, snapping a tree and rolling over on a hillside.
The Driver Privacy Act of 2015 requires the protection of a driver’s data privacy, so a law enforcement agency must obtain a search warrant to access such information.

Yeah. That's the ticket, "safety."
If he doesn’t remember anything, did he pass out, or was he impaired?
Interesting that these data recorders, similar to the “black boxes” on airplanes, may reconstruct what happened. Clearly he lost control of the vehicle, but if he doesn’t remember, that is of concern.

Sure did work, didn’t it.
Why didn’t they get bloodwork from him for a blood test?
CA law would have permitted it under the circumstances.
The high speed looks like a given.
Wonder why Woods wouldn’t just take his lumps for driving like an ******* and pay the fine.
“..sheriff’s investigators did not seek a warrant needed to run toxicology reports to see if Woods was drunk or under the influence of drugs.”
And why would they not do that?
I will only drive old cars.
I do not want a snitch car.
Need to check his phone.
I’m just guessing, but I imagine he’s claiming - through his lawyer - that because of the ‘trauma’ of the event, he doesn’t remember anything.
In fairness, it’s not all that uncommon for people in horrific traffic accidents to have compromised memories of the events, although those memories frequently come back with time. Also, those people generally suffer some head trauma, something I haven’t seen reported by the media in Woods’ case.
In any event, the ‘I don’t remember anything, so I can’t give you any information,’ sure is a convenient excuse for not talking to the PoPo.
Some say he fell asleep. Even his pain medication shouldn’t make him overly tired.
I hope for his sake it wasn’t an all night romp, if you know what I mean.
Cars cost too much.
All thus computer and software stuff just rubs up the cost.
I want a new car without all the tech.
Affluenza
Ditto.
Me too especially since the neo-Marxists want to ban all gas fuel cars in 10 years. So if someone buys a new car today, in ten years it will be worthless and useless specially if occupier Biden illegally occupies the White house for the next 8 years and then Kamala toe
The car is watching you.
It can’t make you respond to its signals.
He probably fell asleep at the wheel after “partying” all night.
The celebrity treatment....
Its not a Tesla- these systems have limitations. If the vehicle resisting you veering out of lanes, the seat vibrating and the lights flashing on the dash cant snap you out of whatever fog youre in....thats on you.
When you hit your head, you can lose memory of some time before the hit. Happened to me in an accident.
I remembered driving and the accident itself, but never remembered hitting my head, which someone pointed out to me because it was bleeding a bit.
Or he could have simply dozed off for a second and it was too late by the time he was cognizant again and woke up.
I've dozed off driving cross country before and am lucky I didn't kill myself. It only take a few seconds for your vehicle to drift off the road, especially if it is curvy.
I think all the speculation is about what happen is moot until the investigation is complete.
I'm just thankful the man is still alive.
