Tiger Woods doesn’t remember the crash that hospitalized him, but the SUV does
LA Times ^ | March 5, 2021 | Richard Winton

Posted on 03/05/2021 1:06:30 PM PST by BenLurkin

Like other modern cars and trucks, the Genesis GV80 that Woods was driving when he crashed was equipped with an electronic data recorder...

Vehicles in the Genesis line — Hyundai’s luxury brand — for example, also feature artificial intelligence software that keeps a watchful eye, sending alerts if it detects the driver is distracted or closes his or her eyes while driving.

...Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department executed a search warrant this week to retrieve the data contained on the SUV’s computers. Information on how fast Woods was going, whether he ever hit the brakes, and other clues could be critical to reconstructing the the crash that left the 45-year-old Woods’ golfing future in limbo.

Woods told investigators he has no recollection of what happened. In the hours after the crash, as Woods underwent surgery at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center to have pins and rods inserted into his shattered lower right leg, sheriff’s investigators did not seek a warrant needed to run toxicology reports to see if Woods was drunk or under the influence of drugs.

According to a source not authorized to discuss the probe, investigators seeking the warrant cited a lack of skid marks or other signs of braking as the reason the data are needed to determine why the vehicle careened through a Rolling Hills Estates sign and across opposing traffic before hitting a curb, snapping a tree and rolling over on a hillside.

The Driver Privacy Act of 2015 requires the protection of a driver’s data privacy, so a law enforcement agency must obtain a search warrant to access such information.

Just start using Lyft, Tiger.
Try to not think about Valerie Jarrett is on the board of directors. You should not be driving by yourself anymore.
Too tanked up on painkillers. Just drop your car keys into the aquarium and walk away.

If he doesn’t remember anything, did he pass out, or was he impaired?

-

With traumatic injury, the person often has no memory. Effectively that event never gets placed into long term memory because of the trauma.

I was knocked out when I was a kid. Don't remember anything but riding along on my dirt bike. Next thing I know my folks were asking me if I was okay. I couldn't recall anything about how I knocked myself out.

“I recall that Tiger was on Ambiance previously.”

Not sure if he was previously in an Ambiance, but his time an Ambiance rushed him to the hospital.

The Disturbing Side Effect Of Ambien, The No. 1 Prescription Sleep Aid
01/15/2014 08:19am EST | Updated February 23, 2016

https://www.huffpost.com/entry/ambien-side-effect-sleepwalking-sleep-aid_n_4589743

Tiger Woods was also famously associated with Ambien when one of his mistresses claimed that she and the golfer would have “crazy Ambien sex.” Ambien lessens inhibitions and erases memories, an ideal combination for someone who is cheating on his spouse. The buzz created by the drug appears to enhance sex as well. One woman described feeling “very relaxed and sensual” when she had sex on Ambien. “I suddenly have floaty energy. . I am tired, but energetic. It’s almost like I’m in a dreamlike state. I might compare it a little to weed, but nothing that I’ve done really compares, to be honest.”

It wasn’t until Patrick Kennedy’s 2006 middle-of-the-night car accident and subsequent explanation to arriving officers that he was running late for a vote that the bizarre side effects of Ambien began to receive national attention. Kennedy claimed that he had taken the sleep aid and had no recollection of the events that night.

Shortly after the Kennedy incident, Ambien users sued Sanofi because of bizarre sleep-eating behaviors while on the drugs. According to Susan Chana Lask, attorney for the class action suit, people were eating things like buttered cigarettes and eggs, complete with the shells, while under the influence of Ambien. Lask called people in this state “Ambien zombies.” As a result of the lawsuit, and of increasing reports coming in about “sleep driving,” the FDA ordered all hypnotics to issue stronger warnings on their labels.

In addition to giving consumers extra information so they could take the medication more carefully, the warning labels also gave legitimacy to the Ambien (or Zombie) defense. In March of 2011, Lindsey Schweigert took one Ambien before getting into bed at 6pm. Hours later, she woke up in custody with no idea how she’d gotten there. In the following weeks, Schweigert pieced together the events of that night. She’d gotten out of bed, drawn a bath, and left the house with her dog. She started driving to a local restaurant but crashed into another car soon after leaving her house. Police described her as swaying and glassy-eyed. She failed a sobriety test and was charged with DWI and running a stoplight.

I bought a new Lexus RX. Love the car. IT’s a hybrid, but with many features seen or to be seen on the Toyota line as well, and probably all cars.

I can start the car from my phone, and get updates on needed maintenance service...AND WHERE THE HELL I PARKED IT!!!!!

I KNOW this might not be a big deal, but there are more things on this, that I’m just learning....

It’s nice to have the car warm when you get in it.

It has a steering wheel warmer, and the butt warmer kicks in quickly.

And yet, when I responded "I don't know," when a navy "doctor" asked if I lost consciousness after being ejected from a vehicle, he determined I must not have lost consciousness because I "would've remembered [losing consciousness]."

Therefore, I did not warrant screening for TBI.

No, I am not joking, being sarcastic, or facetious.

Seat warmers are good, I scoffed at them when I got my Oldsmobile new in 2001.
Loved them since then, don’t want anything more complicated than that, though.

Authorities said he was not under the influence.

How exactly did they determine that?

I haven’t locked the wheels of a car for decades no matter how much of an emergency the situation was. The car just stops...or runs out of room. Got an 11,000lb F350, same same.

Seems the 4th and 5th Amendment are being overlooked here.....

4th - "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects,..."

5th - Right against self-incrimination

BS. Not buying it. If it had been anyone else they would have run toxology reports.

The car was provided to Tiger Woods by the sponsors of the tournament that had just ended. Tiger Woods foundation was the recipient of charity money from that tournament. Unlike some foundations that just shuffle money around among other friendly foundations, Tiger’s foundation actually helps many kids.
