Instead of a refuel, it's a battery pack change depending on race length.
No noise.
No shifting.
Super fast.
Just a random Friday thought.
Forget the politics, just talking about the sport and engineering.
Sorry total VANITY!
Autonomous too? A tech race. Musk should start something like that.
Bad idea. They tried turbine cars in the Indy 500 but people didn’t like them because the lacked the noise. By the way, the turbine cars were also faster.
As a fan of technology, that's a great idea! If I were you, I'd find a way to get that to Elon Musk.
They will also need electric garage door openers that don’t have manual open pulls. The biggest transition will be having vroom vroom noise makers sitting behind the cardboard cutout fans in the stands.
OMG, insane concept.
Robo-Racing w/ V2V and V2X. Pure Autonomy.
My head just exploded. You owe me an office.
I was there, one transmission bearing failed 3 laps to go otherwise a win...
vroom vroom tech exists
It was deployed as a safety feature for blind pedestrians.
Just have overhead power transfers like trains have. No more pit stops.
When hell freezes over (hopefully).
just as long as they don’t have pull ropes in the garage doors
Laws of physics. How far could a car go at a high rate of speed on a single battery pack and how long would it take to change battery packs in the pit? Might work but suspect many EVs would suddenly come to a stop on the course during a race and would cause pile ups. Fun to find out. The challenges of these races have been the spur that has advanced automotive technology.
So only a couple of steps away from giant Slot Cars?
The local municipality uses different bird chirps to let blind people know which direction is safe to cross at intersections. It’s a college town, so vroom vroom would probably be a trigger.
“So only a couple of steps away from giant Slot Cars?”
...without the slots
No, no, no!
We do a virtual race on Zoom.
You put the electric car on one of those wheel spinners they use to ballance your tires and check the speedometer.
Then you project videos around the car from the track you are simlating - Daytona, Pocono, etc.
For refueling pit stops, yu have a camera at the local power plant and watch the meters spin up as the car is recharged.
Getting the big-bosomed scantily-clad girl to kiss the winner is still an issue that has to be worked out.
Bumper cars gone crazy!
