The link is to a different story for time's sake of posting this---Look, I love Rush Limbaugh. Especially the past year he was like a companion when I was working from home alone. However, it's time to get back to talk radio, discussion and problem solving. I honestly feel Rush would not like this weeks long tribute to him---I think he'd want to be honored but he'd want us to get back to brainstorming, calling in and making a difference. I have moved on to other talk radio between 12-3....Not out of disrespect but out of Respect for Rush to move on and "fight the good fight".
I'm young (relatively), intelligent (kinda), funny (like, in the ha-ha way, not strange) and I have a face that's perfect for radio. I'll be standing by the phone for the call.
Thats what I said when I heard RUSH had cancer!
SNERDLEY!!
The aborted phone call is one of many that I never heard. I’m so glad I’m still listening.
What a weird post. If you feel the need to “move on” who is stopping you? Lots of stuff to look at and listen to. Talk radio is still going strong. What is your point? Are you always this selective and informative telling others what and who folks should listen to or do or is Rush somehow really irking you.....even in death?
I don’t understand your commentary.
It’s to be for 90 days. You’re right I should of said “months tribute”. You’re stating this is what he’d want? I seriously doubt it
You should try listening. Every day there has been a new guest host. It’s been a nice week.
That would be because going up against Rush Limbaugh was a losing effort. I expect that some of the other time slot hosts will shuffle their broadcast times to breakout in the nonn-3PM segment.
As for moving on...millions of people have invited Rush into their homes, offices and vehicles three hours per day, five days per week for 30 plus years. Give people some time to grieve, for goodness sakes. Much of Rush's messaging is timeless.
There is not a lot of need to “move on.” I was listening today and they were playing recordings of some of his earlier shows. What fascinated me was you could not tell the “date” of the show, it could have been 2 weeks ago or 2 years ago, the message is literally timeless and the problems he was showing us how to understand were the same problems we are facing now. I think his shows could go on timelessly. He didn’t always stay with “current” events ... so I think it will go “on ... and on ... and on.”
I answered this earlier-—At a time when people are home and things in our society are changing literally by the moment it’s important to be on top of this as a group of conservatives. I guess I really looked forward to the 12pm shot of Rush daily and it was great hearing him but my opinion of memirializing him for 90 days seems antithetical to what he’s been doing for decades. Do you believe he’d want a 90 day hold on information to the world’s largest audience to memorialize him? I don’t believe so...
F.O.
Ditto all that!
I haven’t heard the 90 day timeframe you’re talking about except from one other FReeper. Not saying it isn’t true, I just haven’t heard that.
Have you any idea if this might be part of what Kathryn wants?
I don’t think the guy has even had a funeral.
If you don’t want to hear his timeless wisdom, fine. Don’t turn on his show.
If you want to keep up with current events, go ahead and listen to Mark Steyn, Todd Herman, etc, etc on their own shows.
I’m grieving like you as he was my go to for decades like clock work. But we don’t go forward by always looking back. Like everyone else in the past year I personally have lost several family members and friends...younger people but we need to move on. Our country is on fire and we need to stay United moving forward not facing back.
“I haven’t heard the 90 day timeframe you’re talking about except from one other FReeper.”
The first time I “heard” it was in a statement released by a media organization a couple days after his death. The gist was that that was a good period of time for listeners to basically recover from grieving.
In these days of podcasts, talk radio is pretty old school. I’ve haven’t listened to radio in a couple of years. Even when driving I stream podcasts or YouTube talk videos.
You should try keeping smart ass comments to yourself. Some of us work during the day.
Oh, a media organization. Was it an official declaration from the EIB network? Or was it just speculation?
I agree.
I think it was official. I’ll see if I can find it.
(Is there a way to search on FR by posting date? I think I posted that in a thread.)
That's what the progressive liberals say when they tear down monuments.
