Yeah - the dog sitter may want to think twice about his employer. Fortunately, CA worker's comp law are pretty liberally written and interpreted for domestic help so probably a valid claim on that angle unless he was a subcontractor.

Just going by what's been printed about this so far I'm guessing this is either:

1. Somebody who either knew this was Gaga's dog, or based on location assumed this was some celebrity's dog and kidnapped with the hope of reaping a ransom or reward.

2. Part of the dog fighting community who needs bait dogs to "train" their fighting dogs.

3. PETA types who "rescue" pets from human bondage by stealing and euthanizing them.

For the dog's sake, I hope it was #1.
