Finnish scientists claim to have found another coronavirus variant which shares some of the same mutations as other troublesome strains.
Only one case of the virus — temporarily named Fin-796H — has been spotted so far but experts have admitted they are unsure how widespread it is.
Finland said was unlikely the variant emerged there, given the country's low infection rate. The Scandinavian nation has recorded just 51,000 cases and 700 deaths since the pandemic took off.
Finnish researchers who made the discovery said the variant shared some mutations seen in the Kent and South African strains but in a combination they called 'unique'.
They did not reveal what the mutations were but they aren't thought to be changes which make those strains any more infectious or immune-resistant.
British scientists today insisted the emergence of the strain was no reason to panic. Dr Simon Clarke, an infectious disease researcher at the University of Reading, told MailOnline: 'There's no evidence there's anything to worry about yet.'
It comes as surge testing for the South African B.1.351 variant — which makes jabs slightly less effective — was rolled out to yet more postcodes, as ministers seek to stop the strain becoming established on British soil. Health bosses announced door-to-door testing will be rolled out in Leeds.
Public Health England (PHE) today revealed they had spotted another 18 cases of the mutant strain, taking the total number of cases seen in Britain to 235.
No10's top scientific advisers still insist the current crop of jabs should prevent severe illness and deaths against all new strains currently circulating, even if they don't stop people falling ill.
As long as vaccines serve their main purpose of taking pressure off the NHS, Britain should finally be able to safely ease its way out

We were going through all of that nonsense package wiping down (w/Lysol or bleach) when the CCP first released the CCP virus.
And, the wiping down of grocery baskets, doors etc.
We soon stopped and haven’t wiped one package or cart down and just wash our hands, often. We’ve all been perfectly fine.
Don’t let them force you through the wipe down farce. Just wash your hands.
Oh, and take off those silly masks. They’re as useless as wiping down the packages.

"Although errors introduced during genome replication are a major source of genetic variation in all virus populations, limiting the fitness costs of accumulated errors is especially critical for coronaviruses, the RNA genomes of which are the largest known. For this reason, coronaviruses evolved nonstructural protein 14 (nsp14), which accompanies viral replicases during RNA synthesis and excises misincorporated ribonucleotides from nascent strands before they can be extended, thus preventing errors from becoming permanent. This error-correcting capacity was unknown among RNA viruses prior to its discovery in SARS-CoV-1 (2, 3), and it contributes to a replication error rate more than 10-fold lower than that of other RNA viruses (4, 5). This activity also likely contributes to the low genetic diversity of SARS-CoV-2, although to our knowledge nsp14 function in the novel coronavirus has yet to be investigated..."

We will continue because of the many people who handle the products from production to transport to stocking the shelves. It's very easy to use Lysol spray rather than wipes. Yes, we sanitize our hands with various products that has 80% alcohol content before we bring those products inside.
We firmly believe this virus is being transmitted through touch of outside objects and then touching the face. We only wear masks where required. We still don't get the arbitrary 6 foot distancing. Wear a mask and your body pores are going to spread Covid? It makes no sense. Just keep miniature spray containers of Purell or pure alcohol in your pocket or purse and in your car console and use frequently.
Getting back in the car, we immediately grab the bottle out of the central console and spray our hands profusely and then wipe the inside door handle, seat belts, and console. It's no big deal. Takes about one minute.
If that were the case, then every grocery stocker and curbside clerk would be infected and/or have died, by now.
I’ll send you all of the lysol and purell sprays and wipes (EVERY size you can think of) that we purchased, when CCP first released this flu. They’ve just been sitting on a closet shelf, for months, now.
