French actor Gerard Depardieu has been charged with rape and sexual assault allegedly committed in 2018 against an actress in her 20s, a judicial source told AFP on Tuesday (Feb 23).
An initial investigation into the rape accusations against Depardieu, 72, was dropped in 2019 for lack of evidence but reopened last summer, leading to criminal charges filed in December, the source said.
The actress accuses Depardieu of having raped and assaulted her at his Parisian home in August 2018.

Accusations of sexual assault have swirled around him since he was a very young man. He comes from a rather rough background, and his rise to the pantheon hasn’t erased his basic thuggish nature.

Don’t know don’t care. In the current media madness, I don’t believe anything at first report. Regardless, his performance in Cyrano de Bergerac is EPIC. He is and always will be the very best Cyrano of all time. In French and subtitled and worth owning and rewatching.

Last I heard Depardieu was a citizen of Russia.

I beg to differ. I worked in the film industry....PLENTY of young women would have sex for a film role or just to be an old powerful guys gf, so they can go to parties, get expensive gifts. That’s why I suspect some of the Harvey Weinstein ‘victims’. I’ve known personally young women that did this crap, they would tell me the details and laugh about what they got out of the guy. If she was at his house, I suspect her story.
