Now for a little comic relief.
Over the weekend while trapped in my home from the snow here in Arkansas I read a wonderful book by Dean Martin's late son Ricci. It was great and showed a side of Dean most don't even know about.
From from being the party guy he was the exact opposite. He would rather be home with his family and left alone than anything else, he was basically a recluse when he wasn't working.
Anyway his son made mention of the TV show I don't remember called "Half Nelson", starring Joe Pesci. It didn't last long, just a few episodes , but from what I watched last night it wasn't that bad.
Dean Martin had a recurring role on this show as Joe Pesci's boss, and Pesci plays a former cop trying to be a actor. He does security for Dean and lives on his estate. Dean is his pal.

I recall seeing some version of the Dean Martin Show on TV.
Unlike most TV comics, Dean was always well dressed every week. I think he usually wore a Tux unless acting out a skit.
I’ve heard that Dean would almost never come to the rehearsals early in the week. He would simply show up when it was time to shoot the episode and improvise most of his dialog. By that time(late 60’s), he had been a top Hollywood name for over 30 years, so he knew how a program was usually put together. It was kind of a Playboy inspired version of He-Haw, now that I think about it. Fun show.
His contract let come to work on the day the show was taped in front on an audience , he read cue cards, never rehearsed so he was as surprised at things as the audience was. At the time he was the highest paid TV actor on TV, earning then around $300,000 an episode.

What was the name of the book? Is that the son who was killed in the plane crash in the San Bernardino mountains?
The son killed was Dean Paul, Ricci died a few years ago.

Did not know that.
That was not Ricci, that was his brother Dean Paul who had a band with two other guys , all of them under 15 years old, they were short lived, the drummer was Desi Arnaz,Jr.
There was also an older son, Dean’s first born son named Craig who was not in show business.
Everybody needs some comedy, sometime....
Dean had three sons, Craig, Dean Paul, and Ricci. Craig was from his first marriage.
Actually, Craig was in show business. He worked behind the scenes on Dean’s show. He’s in the credits.
Oh! Boy - time has gotten away from me. I thought Dean Paul was from his marriage (Jeanne) before the last one. I should have looked it up first - I see he had a marriage in the ‘40’s...before Jeanne and then the last one. Well, who was expected to keep track of those people anyway? Thanks.
