In all of Texas history power only went out because storms destroyed lines. This is the first time they simply couldn’t generate electricity. And it’s a failure of the Republican Party that has run the state for 25 years.

You are correct ... it has been GOPe Republicans in office, in Texas for decades that pushed ‘green’ energy... Do not expect any of then to step up and admit they are responsible for the frozen pipes/ ruined floors. Why ol’ Ted fly away Cruz was tri-global-energys-2019- Congressional recipient wind leadership award...

The blackouts are due to treating interruptible energy supplies as firm supplies. Wind and Solar are NOT firm energy supplies.

Here is what I posted earlier. Unfortunately, the energy market cannot be explained in a few paragraphs but I did my best.

“Wind power is an interruptible supply that is treated like a firm supply by know nothings (politicians on all sides, but especially Kerry, Obama, Biden and AOC). Ditto for solar. Electric utilities have to buy electricity from both wind and solar suppliers and then when they do not perform, the utility has to go into the market and purchase what the inefficient interruptible wind and solar suppliers don't produce, at a much higher price especially in critical time. If I were a utility and were allowed to do what made sense I would charge the correct pricing signal to the interruptible suppliers. Right now that is not happening. My guess, this pricing malfunction is causing market disruptions. “

“ Utilities are allowed a very small reserve margin. On extreme days, pipelines will call Critical Time minimizing flexibility (draw) on a daily and hourly basis. The utility's gas controllers (heroes in my estimation).will pack the line (distribution system) to meet hourly requirements. If utility customers’, aka end users’, suppliers do not nominate what is actually being used the utility will have to make up the difference. That difference will come from utility owned storage or storage services purchased from pipelines.

Utilities are governed by local Public Utility Commissions (PUC).
Pipelines are governed by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).”
