Winter storms since late January have induced full-fledged snow fatigue in cities in the South, Midwest and Northeast.
Oklahoma City
Oklahoma City kicked off its snow season with 0.2 inches five days before Halloween, tying Oct. 26, 1913, for their record earliest first measurable snow of the fall. As of Feb 18, the capital city was less than 3 inches from its snowiest season on record – 25.2 inches in 1947-48, fueled by five significant storms.
Little Rock
In four days from Valentine's Day through Feb 17, Little Rock picked up 20 inches of snow from two winter storms. They never before had two calendar-day 6-inch-plus snowfalls in the same winter season, much less within four days. Wednesday's 11.8-inch snowfall was their second-snowiest day on record, just shy of their March 6, 1875 record of 12 inches. The city averages 3.5 inches of snow a year. Unsurprisingly, the city tied its all-time record for snow on the ground, reporting a 15-inch snow cover on Thursday. That snow depth record was set in 1918
Chicago
Since late January, Chicago has essentially picked up almost an entire season's worth of snow in about three weeks (normal season: 36.3 inches; past three weeks: 39.5). Measurable snow fell nine days in a row at O'Hare, tying a record snow streak in the city set just three years ago. It was the city's snowiest stretch since January 1979.
Cincinnati
Feb. 8-9 was the city's heaviest two-day snowstorm in almost 13 years. With 22 inches of snow, February was already a top 5 snowiest month all-time for the city in records dating to 1893, and less than 10 inches from the all-time monthly record (31.5 inches) set in January 1978. Measurable snow had fallen on 11 of 18 days so far in February.

Allentown, Pennsylvania
Allentown picked up 27.3 inches of snow in the pre-Groundhog Day storm, the city's second-heaviest snowstorm all-time behind only a January 2016 snowstorm that dumped 31.9 inches of snow in two days. Two recent snowstorms accounted for over 80% of Allentown's snowfall this season, which is more than 2 feet snowier than average so far. Through Feb. 18, Allentown was knocking on the door of their top 5 snowiest months, all-time, with 33.6 inches.
If they don’t live in the Great Lakes lake effect snow belts, they don’t have a clue what snow fatigue is.
One and two day snow events are not a big deal.
I lived in Ross north dakota and I had the same snow drift in my yard from December till late april.
We are in dfw area. Last weekend they were talking 8 inch drifts. We laughed. Hubby is fro. BUFFALO NY. This Tx gal was up there 6 years. No that is snow!!
Oh, got it. I've heard the term many times but didn't fully understand its cause nor exactly where the "belts" were. But these two graphics make it perfectly clear, thx!
This is exactly why the neo-Marxists changed it from “Global warming” to “Climate change” so they can blame cold as well as hot weather on fossil fuels. This happened when self appointed atmospheric physicist Al Gore went to give a speech on global warming in NYC some 10 years ago during a record cold temperature and he was pretty much mocked like the idiot he is. So now, freezing weather? Lot’s of snow? As well as hurricanes, tornadoes, Tsunamis, earthquakes? Oh it’s because of your evil car engine.
Warmer air crossing the semi frozen Great Lakes...easy to have 12-24 inches in 12 hours downwind.
And nothing 50 miles north or south.
I hear that some people don't like snow.
Some people just don't know how to enjoy life.
That’s an oldie.
I love snow. And skiing ⛷
Here in the gay bay. It only snows on the mountains. Rarely
That’s ok. I’ll take 60 all winter 🥶.
By God those sound like great place to open GM EV dealerships.
I lived in Ithaca, NY; Syracuse, NY; and Akron, OH. We got those incredible lake-effect snows. There was one storm in the mid 60s in Syracuse that dumped 60 inches over a weekend.
My folks were at wits end when their coffin nails ran out. The main road was plowed and some friends put some cigs in our mailbox 1/4 mile away. Dad sent me out to retrieve them for him!
“GM EV dealerships”
Yeah! People are going to really love those things in winter, aren’t they? Just think — only 14 years until GM says they won’t sell any ICE powered cars.
:) One of my all time favorite gifs.
I’d like to remind the EV loving crowd here that no matter what kind of vehicle they try to sell, it’s still a POS GM.
Snow fatigue is being on the wrong side of the plow route.
Same vintage as “this thread is useless without pictures”. A laz favorite
Or mohamed in the wheelchair. Guess I’m missing some things lately.
Cheers
There’s normally snow in our woods until late May.
Another word for "changing climate" is "weather."
