Funny...I was 19 and James Gang, Alice Cooper, Black Sabbath and Grand Funk topped my personal music chart.

The summer of 1971.
MCB Twenty Nine Palms, Advanced Electronics Training Bn. Had already been in the Corps for a year...
Was commuting to Palm Springs on weekends, on a 450 Honda. There was a Sweet Young Thing who was spending her summer at her dad's house, there, while he did something with a studio in LA...
I learned my total contempt for Hollywood, through her.
Good Times.

I was six, and learning what “summer” break meant after 1st grade. Little did I know then how glorious the summer months would become in the years ahead. No cell phones, no computers...just the outdoors, friends, pick-up baseball/football, forts...I weep for today’s youth.

26 in ‘71. Every one of those songs brings me back to one barroom or other. Took another eleven years to stop decorating the mahogany.

I didn't realize until fairly recently how many different models of Schwinn "Krates" there were (not all had "Krate" in the name. ie, Pea Picker (green), Lemon Peeler (yellow), etc). Growing up, I had only been aware of the Orange Krate and Lemon Peeler. I think they were the biggest sellers. Nowadays, in mint condition, they can go for as high as $8,000-$10,000!, with the major of mint conditions going for around $2,000-$3,000.
Also didn't realize the huge number of copycats or competitors from other companies, the main one being the Raleigh Chopper. There were a LOT of them. Much more than I knew about growing up in the late-60 and early 70s.

I was 15 in 1971. Most of those images bring back memories. Smoked cigarettes, pot, hash and played some guitar. Rode bicycles, hikes in parks and trips to Long Island beaches with friends. Wish I could go back as a time traveling visitor. Thank God I quit the cigarettes, drugs and pot before graduating HS. Grateful to have experienced much more live social interactions and activities with friends. We had some great music and lots of it too.
