Some people will fall for anything, so no doubt there were and are some true believers. The left would like us to believe that Q-ism was widespread, but how many people sincerely took the “Q” balderdash seriously? Very few on FR, based on posts and comments.
The only interesting thing about the Q hoax is WHO-DUN-IT, and whether it was a project of government, journalists, political operatives, or just someone putting a LOT of effort over a LONG time period into a spoof. Whoever it was had narrative engineering skills and sufficient knowledge of government/political affairs to charm the gullible.
