Diana in Wisconsin implicates in deterring global warming:

Greening of the Earth Mitigates Surface Warming | NASA www.nasa.gov › feature › greening-of-the-earth-mitigat... Nov 23, 2020 — A new study reports that increased vegetation growth during the recent decades, known as the “Greening Earth”, has a strong cooling effect on the land due to increased efficiency of heat and water vapor transfer to the atmosphere. p>A new study published in the journal Science Advances titled “Biophysical impacts of Earth greening largely controlled by aerodynamic resistance” reports that the entire land surface would have been much warmer without the cooling effect of increased green cover during the recent decades. The study used high-quality satellite data from NASA’s MODIS sensors and NCAR’s state-of-the-art numerical earth system model.

“In the fight against climate change, plants are the lonely-only defenders. Stopping deforestation and ecologically sensible large-scale tree-planting could be one simple, but not sufficient, defense against climate change.” said the lead author Dr. Chi Chen a former Ph.D. student at Boston University, now a postdoc researcher at DOE’s Lawrence Berkeley National Lab.

Taking a coffee break. We have been busy today Getting the seedling flats out and getting ready to start some seedlings. And I have been doing some spring cleaning.

The green house was up to 90 degrees the last 2 days-opened the sliding glass doors - love that heat coming in. I have decided to try your experiment. The bag of potting soil on the lid of a plastic container. I only have space for an 8 qt. bag right now. So I’m going to plant some lettuce and spinach.

I’ll make some room later for another the same size and use that as a seedling flat for one of my raised bed gardens. This year, I’m going to plant 1 or 2 raised beds in the sq. ft. garden method-each sq. ft. of the bed, will be a different veggie or flower.

I was reviewing some winter sown information, and I have a few milk jugs that I could use for that. I have been making some lemonade from my lemon tree lemons and enjoying it a lot.

Last year, I had a pepper plant that got neglected and hidden under a cascade of sweet million type of tomatoes, and so it was sort of little. I dug it up and put it in a 1/2 gallon pot. It has grown well indoors, and is now blooming. So I’m hoping to get some sweet peppers sooner than usual this year.

Due to weather, all work on the shed was abandoned. We are hoping in a week or two that work can resume. I got on a spring cleaning bing last 2 days. One room at a time Main Bath is finished and starting on the upstairs kitchen.

Speaking of heat, hubby had the fireplace insert cranked up and it was 80 degrees upstairs and the furnace never came on during the worst of the weather. The basement got as low as 61 at night and stayed around 70 degrees in the daytime. I did finally give in and turn on the baseboard heater in one end of the TV/Computer room.

So I started on the kitchen this AM, and first thing-The front panel fell off the dishwasher. It still works though, it is getting old and doesn’t do as well as it used to. Will have to motive hubby to fix the panel. Fixing things - he hates. Building from scratch he likes. Ha.

We have 3 sinks that need new faucets and drains one is leaking-slow drip into a bucket. 2 garbage disposers that quit-not sure if that is electrical or the appliance. A bath tub that drips and leaks, so it also has a bucket to catch the drips. Two of the sinks when turned on barely have a trickle of water. Two of the 4 toilets need new innards.

I should mention that hubby did the plumbing when we built the house, and also the plumbing for our daughters house. Our house was built in 1976. Procrastination rules when it comes to fixing pipes. Hubby said sometimes leaks fix themselves-lime buildup doncha know.

So I spent quite some time recently, watching repair videos. I learned to use an closet auger. Yep, I got one of jobs done-that toilet is unclogged and flushing great. 😎

And the intake hose for the water into the house is leaking. So it has a drip pan that is tilted so it runs into the floor drain. This hubby has tried to fix and said he needed to call someone to fix it.

That was 2 years ago. We have discussed it several times, and his response is I’m gonna call someone. Reminds me of Pa Kettle.

I’m gonna need to find a good plumber. Then I’m gonna get hollered at for calling him-hubby’s standard comment: I would have done that if you’d just waited a little longer. 🤣

Have a great weekend. God Bless.
