When President Joe Biden flew aboard Air Force One for the first time this month, he did not spend much time soaking in the moment.
The flight, after all, was only 25 minutes long. He was headed home to Delaware for the weekend, in part to have his foot X-rayed at his orthopedist. And unlike his most recent predecessors, Biden was already familiar with the unique combination of execuive swank and military rigor aboard the presidential jet, having flown more than a million miles aboard Air Force Two.
So, like a weary passenger on a commuter shuttle, he spent most of the flight reading the newspaper.

Will they even know what the right thing to do is? It seems that “I got mine” is the standard now.
It is official - Biden is a crappy president.
Yes, AF1 is the designation of any plane whether a 747 or a Cessna prop job on which the president is traveling.
I did not know that!
“...spent most of the flight reading the newspaper.”
Was the Victrola broken?
I thought that ANY aircraft POTUS is on is “AF1.” It’s not a particular aircraft, but the one he is aboard.
Are you keeping a diary? Last year we read the 100 year old diary of my husband’s Grandmother...who died in 1930 when she was 30...nothing political (mention of one presidential election in the 5 years we read)....but got me thinking...so I am keeping a “political” diary as well as another...not a lot of writing required...just a few notes every few days...like “Biden is illigitamite” and other notes of the times. Maybe my great grandchildren will understand what they lost...??? And try to regain it?
But, who is abiding by your AF1 definition?
I’m merely saying the media is defining AF1 as the aircraft that has Bidan as a passenger.
But, at the same time, the FAA is NOT, I repeat NOT, labeling that aircraft as AF1.
If you look at military traffic maps (there are youtubers with access and put it up, with commentary), the Bidan-carrying aircraft has some other call sign. NOT AF1, as a call sign.
So, which version is correct? The media? Or, the FAA air traffic system?
AF1 in one sense IS A PARTICULAR aircraft. There are two possible planes, both similar or the same equipment - 82000 and 89000. I think I heard that 82000 is preferred, with 89000 as backup. They both are B747.
If a smaller plane is used, it would typically be dubbed by the FAA as AF1.
But, not in Bidan’s case, as stated in my other reply.
ONLY the media is referring to the plane (much smaller than a 747) as AF1.
Don't forget his most important activity
He’s already admitted he has no clue what he signs.
He probably had no clue he was on Air Force One.
Gag me.
Very little consolation but it helps...even if he stole the election, she wonders why she didn’t go that far.
I have never before seen the term “new President” used at the beginning of an administration. It’s sort of jarring.
Anyone remember the Hillary campaign ad with the ringing phone and the voiceover asking who will answer that 3am call to the White House? In Bidens case the call will be transferred to Kamala
So let me get this straight. He helo'ed from the White House to Andrews, then flew Air Force 1 to Delaware, a flight so short AF1 didn't even get up to altitude. Why didn't he just caravan up I-95?
It makes it hard to get up in the morning.
No, it's not the age thing. It's the use of the term "new President." It's studiously generic sounding. Not "President Biden." It's like there's a hesitancy in using the more usual phrase "President [name]." And also an emphasis on the novelty of him, there mere changing of administrations, when there is nothing else noteworthy to mention.
