I thought that ANY aircraft POTUS is on is “AF1.” It’s not a particular aircraft, but the one he is aboard.
But, who is abiding by your AF1 definition?
I’m merely saying the media is defining AF1 as the aircraft that has Bidan as a passenger.
But, at the same time, the FAA is NOT, I repeat NOT, labeling that aircraft as AF1.
If you look at military traffic maps (there are youtubers with access and put it up, with commentary), the Bidan-carrying aircraft has some other call sign. NOT AF1, as a call sign.
So, which version is correct? The media? Or, the FAA air traffic system?
AF1 in one sense IS A PARTICULAR aircraft. There are two possible planes, both similar or the same equipment - 82000 and 89000. I think I heard that 82000 is preferred, with 89000 as backup. They both are B747.
If a smaller plane is used, it would typically be dubbed by the FAA as AF1.
But, not in Bidan’s case, as stated in my other reply.
ONLY the media is referring to the plane (much smaller than a 747) as AF1.
