While the media in the UK is asserting lockdown measures caused COVID-19 deaths and cases to plummet, Sweden saw an even greater drop off in deaths despite enforcing comparatively minor restrictions.
This morning, UK broadcaster Sky News declared “Lockdown is working! COVID-19 infection rate plummets in England.”
“One of the largest and most authoritative coronavirus surveys has found that infections are quickly falling in England, confirming that lockdown is working to suppress the virus,” states the report.
The report claims that vaccines aren’t a factor in the reduction in deaths and cases because they are observed across all age groups.
However, as Dr. Eli David highlighted, COVID deaths in Sweden began dropping off even sooner without the need for harsh lockdown measures.

In comparison to the UK, which imposed a full national lockdown in early January, Sweden refused to follow suit, only encouraging voluntary social distancing measures.
As we highlighted last October, health authorities in the Scandinavian country refused to follow the rest of Europe by imposing new coronavirus lockdown measures on their population, arguing that those beset by loneliness and misery of being isolated have suffered enough.
Despite all this, health authorities in Sweden are now considering a full lockdown for the first time due to what they say is a rise in cases over the last week.
“The proposals would let the government close shopping centers, gyms and restaurants, as well as impose new restrictions on theme parks, zoos and museums. There will be a new system to control social gatherings and public events,” reports Bloomberg.

The World Health Organization recommended doing a confirmatory second test for individuals where there is no clinical sign of COVID-19, but a single test shows positive. The World Health Organization does NOT set US case definitions; the CDC does.

But, I don't want to be facetious, and I want to keep my head. 😁
The purpose of the lockdowns, etc., is to minimize transmission and thereby reduce the number of hospitalizations and deaths. Masks are also supposed to have some impact on transmission. Accept this as true for a minute.
Then you also, by definition, reduce the number of people who acquire it but have minimal or no symptoms - the majority of cases. It is from within this group from which you will get herd immunity.
So when they “flatten the curve”, they are simultaneously reducing the number of those with immunity.
Immunity doesn’t just mean you don’t get sick, it means the virus dies inside you. Anyone who is immune, again, by definition, continues to physically come in contact with viruses, but the viruses die instead of being passed on. Immune people are like mini vacuum cleaners, walking around, breathing in the virus and killing it, cleaning the air of the virus around them.
The number of times this can happen will be reduced, again by definition, if the mask bit works at any degree.
So in a largely feeble attempt to “flatten the curve” for the sick, they have also flattened, and thereby extended, the time to herd immunity.

You know, I would love to see someone with some resources check to see what happened to the finances of those who forced the hardest lockdowns.
For example, in my own state of Michigan, Her Pomposity, Empress Whitmer basically decided what businesses failed and which succeeded. Any chance she had any interest in which ones succeeded?
Who knew that locking people in houses wouldn’t protect them from a virus smaller than a wavelength of light.
The weekly number of cases is down to little more than a third of the number at the peak. Hospitalization numbers are going down. Will the new strains cause trouble? Won’t know for a couple more weeks or so.
Don’t forget to stock up on toilet paper. ;D
India has had tremendous results with a dramatic reduction of its death rate by handing out Ivermectin country wide in a country wide program. Why can’t other countries do the same thing and save millions of lives? How stupid are these politicians?
Of course the lockdown is working, exactly as planned. It was never about controlling the spread of COVID-19 Wuhan virus, it was about making the economy ready for draconian control measures long beyond the end of the cycle of the disease.
Well played. And it will probably be years before the effects of this “experiment” can be smoothed away and the world returned to a somewhat rational basis.
