Yep, The Clinton years were awesome with RUSH there. Oh, can't forget the Teddy Kennedy songs or the Hillary, my mind is JELLO.
I started listening when he first went syndicated because WSJS in Winston-Salem carried him. That was followed by Rush Rooms in restaurants. I quit listening when I left Winston in 1998. I was always working when he was on.
He made it big by being the firstest with the mostest. No else was doing when he was doing so he was the only source of conservative news.
“My favorites were the Paul Shanklin parodies, especially during the Clinton/Gore days.”
I have two CDs of the parodies. Got them about 20 years ago. They’re hilarious.
Remember “fark”?
I loved his sense of humor. He would be talking and suddenly say something so funny...catch u off guard.
I will never forget the first time he rumpled paper over the air! WOW. How effective that was. And it was never ever done on air before Rush.
I miss him already.
Wasn’t Rush the one who joked “This is a real story -and if it wasn’t, would I be able to do this [rumples paper on-air]?”
I did a FR search for Rush this morning, and didn’t see this post of memories.
All I can say is that great minds think alike, and the more memories the better.
I was a Democrat because, well...., my mom and dad were.
Then I found Rush.
I thought “this makes far more sense than the really stupid things I am hearing from democrats”
Things tht I never considered stupid, were now revealed as really really dumb. I wanted to help people- so democrats do that, right? Boy was I wrong.
Democrat politics usually end up hurting the people they are trying to ‘help’.
Summed up in the words of Reagan “Govt. is not the solution to all problems- often it is the source”
I have one or two CD’s of Paul Shanklin parodies. I think two. I would have to look to be sure.
Here’s a list ...

I spent the 90s working in Harlem, Washington Heights and the South Bronx. Every week day from 12-3 PM Rush would be blaring from the radio hanging from the guard rail around the manhole I’d be woking. If I wasn’t in a ‘hole, I’d be in a basement or backyard and Rush would be with me. He was my “partner” at work longer than anyone assigned to me by management.
He had a couple at least.
The first one was ‘Abby’.
Abbys are intelligent like Russian Blues. I had a RB. Never had another like her.
I have a Siamese now, that dude is retarded.
“woking” S/B “working”
The operatic song ending, “God bless you, Rush Limbaugh.”
The environmental whacko football picks
My first time hearing Rush was during Desert Shield on WIBX 950 Utica which has carried the show to present.
My most remembered stunt was Rush putting a condom on the EIB Golden Microphone on Valentine’s Day to promote safe talk. I can still hear the sound of that thing being stretched over the microphone.
Thanks Rush for everything
Got through to Sneardly once, but he said it was a bad connection.
It was the only time I thought I had something to contribute.
Rush was the source of much optimism for America.
His passing reminds us that GOD must be the source for all hope.
Was t it Rush who made up the name “feminazi”? And “soccer moms”?
Rush lost his sense of humor big time after he lost his hearing, was my observation. He just stopped doing some of his funniest stuff!
I loved the “caller-abortions” sound-effect when he got rid of fake callers (”Rush, I’m a Republican, and I think we should have a minimum wage and free health care and abolish the death penalty,” etc. etc., all fake), and the animal wacko update music and sound-effects (Born Free, with gunfire, as I recall).
One of my fav parodies was about Clinton’s taxes:
“Count Taxula, and his eeeeeee-vil henchman.....EGore” (again, as I recall).
My fav story, which I haven’t been able to find online, was the cow rescue story, where other cows “looked on with (fear and hope)” as the one cow stuck in a (mudhole) was rescued (by helicopter). (I put things in parentheses which are the details I can’t recall, especially the two nouns used in the story about the watching cows.) Rush laughed and laughed at the idea that other cows were watching and thinking “that could be me,” as if they had any thoughts other than food, sex, poop, repeat.
And I loved his take on wearing “awareness ribbons” to show that the wearers care more than others (early virtue signaling). He encouraged people to fold up a dollar bill into one of those ribbons and wear it as a “Deficit Spending Awareness” ribbon. And I did, and when people asked about it, and I told them what it was, I was amazed at how so very very under- or un-informed people were about congressional spending and the Federal Deficit and Debt.
What a tremendous loss it is that Rush is gone.
“Gender-gap” (?)
