I thought we needed a spot to note our memories of Rush Limbaugh. Do you have a favorite monologue or moment to share?
I began listening to his radio show during the Clarence Thomas hearings. My husband, also a freeper, listened sooner. It took a little time for me to overcome Rush's bravado, but then I was hooked.
My favorite monologue was about his cat. I know, this was probably one of his few apolitical monologues. I was driving through southern Connecticut on a trip, and I was in hysterics as Rush described his cat waking him up at 5:30 a.m., ravenously hungry, and s/he would not go into the carrier to go to the vet, etc. We have a similar problem with our cat, so doubtless that's why I was laughing so much.
Rush had a way that made us all feel special, that connected us to him in what felt like a one-to-one relationship. He also had a unique view, so that I was careful to seek out his opinions when there was controversy. I loved listening to him work out his ideas on air, with callers or without. I wrote him a few times, but I never called his show. There were too many other brilliant people to do that.
Rest in peace, Rush. Your presence and influence was utterly powerful and pervasive. You will never be forgotten.

I’ve been dealing with liver cancer for five years. But I decided not to have any treatment cause I’m sick of going to the hospital. The time I have left is my own. Last summer my MRI showed that my tumor has shrunk 50%. I don’t know why but I’m running with it. A lot of people I know and relatives went through hell treatment and still passed away. So I’m leaving it in God’s hands. Hey,we’re only here for a short while anyway. Rush was a fighter and I’m going to miss him terribly.
My favorites were the Paul Shanklin parodies, especially during the Clinton/Gore days.
My favorite segment was probably in 2012 when Donald Trump called in during the annual fundraiser. Rush told him he had to pledge a donation, and Trump said he would match what Rush gave. After a break, Trump said that he had just made a “very generous” pledge to match what Rush did. Then Trump spent the next several minutes trashing Mitt Romney. Great stuff.
I found Rush in 1990’ish....whenever the “year of the woman” was going on in California Senate races...right after Tailhook.
I was in the USN and the FM side of my car stereo quit working. That left me with a.m. side and found him driving driving home from Miramar Golf Course. I distinctly remember the FM side dying at a traffic light in Mira Mesa.
I switched to AM to see if only FM was down and sure as heck there was Rush talking.....I had heard the light!
Santorum said Satan had set his sights on America. You know, I’ve talked about Satan on this program. Well, I didn’t do it on this program. I discovered Satanic messages in Slim Whitman music back in Sacramento. I have my own experiences with the devil. I almost resigned when I found out about this. I was doing a Peace Update, and at the time the Global Peace March was going on for nuclear disarmament. Slim Whitman had a song called Una Paloma Blanca in which he yodeled a lot, which Slim Whitman does in his songs. Una Paloma Blanca, One White Dove, symbol of peace. Remember at the Olympics a couple of them got fried by the Olympic flame? It was Una Paloma Bako.So I pretended to have discovered a Satanic message in Una Paloma Blanca when you play that backwards.

Funniest thing he ever did.
I cannot get the Rush Gospel Singers, “Let’s give up forrrr Rush” out of head.
i probably shouldn’t even bring this up but I remember Rush laughing uncontrollably on radio once for an extended period when when a lady who was a listener called his show once and somehow her job entered the conversation and lets just say her job involved in her by her own explanation..... making sure bulls.........”produce”.......for insemination purposes.
I was the first caller on April 9, 1993. We discussed Clinton’s intentions to involve the US in the Bosnia conflict. I felt like I was talking to an old friend.
Rush always lead the fund raiser off with a $100,000 donation - for leukemia and lymphoma. I always donated b/c my dad died of leukemia - I got a Rush t-shirt for donating more than $40 - which I proudly wore up and down the state of California.
One of my favorite memories is when Trump called on Rush’s birthday and Bo Snerdley said “some guy was on the phone insisting on speaking to Rush immediately” - Rush took the call and said “what do you want?” in his snarky way - and Trump said, Rush, it’s President Trump! - Rush almost jumped through the microphone - no way was it set up judging by Rush’s reaction. We laughed so hard I almost drove the car off the road.
He had an abyssinian, correct?

“Your Favorite Rush Memories”
I haven’t been able to listen to Rush for about a year. My car radio does not work on AM stations. Home radio won’t reach a station clearly. Didn’t do internet as husband works from home and for most of the year limited internet. So FR was a limited source.
With that said, I have loved Rush for decades- TV and radio! A great loss and I do believe his talent was on loan from God as he was 99.8% truth...correct?!!!
I don’t cry hardly at all and yesterday just broke out in tears several times.
I remember this, as well.
