Rush to Excellence 1989
(Excerpt) Read more at youtube.com ...
I had tickets to Rush to Excellence In Detroit in 1990. My wife chose to have some pregnancy complications that night and being the good husband that I am decided to forego Rush and stay at the hospital with her.
We were joking about that today and how I never got to see Rush.
A missed opportunity for a far better cause. Congratulations Dad.
His Rush Tours were great. Remember Dan’s Bake Sale? It started as a joke, when Rush said to raise money for the Limbaugh Letter by having a bake sale. He was bigger than life!
My Dad attended, ‘Dan’s Bake Sale’ back in the 80’s. 80K attended in Fort Collins, CO. Totally grass-root.
He talked about that up until the time he started losing his marbles a few years ago.
Dad passed away in May, 2020 but he made me a life-long Rush fan, too. :)
Do you remember Mick from the high mountains of New Mexico?
Ping to Post #5! :)
Yes!
Back when I was a broke undergrad, one of my relatives bought a gift subscription to the Limbaugh Letter for me. I still have those Limbaugh Letters...in a box...somewhere in the house. The important thing is that I still have them.
I remember an ex inmate that called in a few years back and explained how listening to Rush saved his life in prison and turned his life around. That caller was incredible.
“Do you remember Mick from the high mountains of New Mexico?”
Absolutely! Mick lived in the Sacramento Mountains of NM if I remember correctly.
I attended a Rush to Excellence Tour in Buffalo, NY. I can’t recall the year.
Yes, Mick was a regular. Interesting guy...
Wish I still have mine... Ex threw them out when we were divorcing. Had the first issue.
I heard of that guy, too. Rush helped so many people. One of the guys at the rooming house listened to Rush daily. He was an ex inmate, and he said Rush helped him, too.
“Those kittens and puppies make excellent tacos and burritos.”_Mick
Ouch! I am sorry to hear that.

I tried to recall when I first listened...events I recalled listening to live. I remembered Dan's bake sale and the grief he gave him, then stirred the idea of tweaking Clinton's "Bake Sale". I realized it was right after he went national in 1988 that I was introduced to talk radio. I know it didn't take long to be hooked. Charter subscriber to his newsletter (1992) and charter subscriber to his website. I'll have to dig out my VHS and revisit his early years to remind myself how far we have come.
