Lucasfilm’s firing of Gina Carano may go down as one of the more 'textbook' examples of public relations blunders. This past week the studio and its umbrella company Disney detached from Carano, following the latest in a series of social media posts which betrayed the political incorrectness of the former MMA fighter.
Carano – who had been portraying rebel-turned-mercenary Cara Dune on the hit Disney+ Star Wars series The Mandalorian – had shared the following on her Instagram account:
--snip--
Do note that at no point does Miss Carano refer to Republicans, conservatives, or any other specific ideology. She merely made an observation about history: something often rhyming like poetry, as George Lucas himself noted.
Most Star Wars fans do not waste precious life waiting to pounce on an errant tweet. Many are instead working real jobs, or raising children. Or perhaps are children themselves, enjoying a brief few years of innocence… and should they have the politics of adulthood so crudely imposed upon them?
But there were enough cancel-culturalists (read as: an overly vocal minority with no real life of their own) to spin up #fireginacarano on Twitter, that Disney took notice. And ideally, had the differences been that irreconcilable, the company should have quietly parted ways with Miss Carano, without ado or even any public notice at all. That is what a wise and considerate company would have done.
But that is not what happened. Instead, Disney made a political spectacle out of firing Gina Carano. It did it to satiate the lusts of a fringe segment of toxic fandom that thrives on destroying others. Disney could not have handled the situation worse. And it will come to haunt them, sooner than they may be prepared for.

Disney had been looking for a reason to fire her ever since she failed to bend a knee to the perverts and ridiculed them by claiming her ‘pronouns’ were beep, bop, and boop.
The Evil Empire strikes back. She was never notified of the firing until days later and it was on Social Media. Kathleen Kennedy is the person behind this. No diversity for conservatives.
She ruined the Star Wars Franchise more than Jar Jar Binks...
“It did it to satiate the lusts of a fringe segment of toxic fandom...”
No, it did not. The cancel mob are not actually fans, which is why the ratings tank for any property that caters to them. They only criticize the product, they don’t actually buy it.
I cant cancel Disney or any other Hollywood entity. They already do not get a dime from me.
I will go see the Daily Wire movie.
The Empire struck back.
The Big Tech governors now have direct control over their territories. Fear will keep the local systems in line. Fear of being cut off of Google, Apple and Amazon Web Services.
That’s the part I don’t get. She was clearly identifying as an R2 unit and Darth Disney cancelled her.
When the Resistance became the Empire...
She should have been fired for her horrible wooden acting. I could care less about her politics. But she was the worst part of that show. Terrible actress and another in the long line of forcing tough female “Mary Sue”characters.
That, and George Lucas is apparently a holocaust denier.
They claim to have bought only the Rights and so they can continue to sell the authors work and not pay them anything.
Oh and Audible (an Amazon company) has for years been accepting returns up to a year after the work was sold, charging authors for these returns yet refuses to give them any sort of accounting. Just a bill.
There is a reason why Big Business is in bed with Big Communists. They are all thieves together.
You do what you want but Amazon and Disney are off my list of people that I do business with.
George Lucas no longer owns Lucas Films and has no say.
She may or may not be a conservative, but she is without a doubt NOT as liberal as the “woke” crowd.
If she is a true conservative, I’ll welcome her with open arms (what can I say, I take after Laz a bit that way.. she’s hawt).
Her post wasn’t anti-Semitic in any form or fashion. Sad really, she’s part of why I was watching the show.
How? She played a good character, and was good at her job of acting... if you wanna throw shade on Star Wars, yes, Jar Jar is #1, but the whole Captain Phasma (?) and whoever was Snook killed it for me - have this big bad evil guy, no idea where he came from, how he came to power, etc. - and he gets taken out by his own protégée? Ridiculous.
And don’t get me started on his pants.. UGH.
I was referring to Kathleen Kennedy in the post I was responding to, not Gina Carano.
My apologies for mis-reading your post FRiend.
None necessary. I realized after posting it that I should have written Kathleen Kennedy instead of “she”.
Sometimes I post what I think without reviewing the written statement.
