When it comes to pizza, toppings are incredibly important. No matter how good the crust and sauce are, it doesn’t matter if a terrible topping is added to the pizza.
A new survey says that it has determined America’s least favorite pizza topping, according to a post on YouGov.com. The results are based on a poll that included 6,000 adults from the United States.
According to the results, America’s most disliked topping is anchovies. The small fish has a big taste and is often the butt of bad-pizza-topping jokes. While people not liking anchovies on pizza may not be surprising, the survey also revealed several other unpopular pizza toppings.
While 61% of respondents said that they don’t like anchovies on pizza, 52% also said that they don’t like eggplant on pizza. Artichokes were the third least popular topping, with 44% of respondents saying no to them.

Also fried Italian greens, broccoli rabe with garlic and red pepper flakes fried in olive oil is very nice.
Anchovies forever!
Yup Italians do it too.
Sounds interesting. I’ll see if I can snatch me some in the greatest state for pizza - New Jersey!
They’ve been putting pineapple on pizza in the US for decades. Usually with Canadian bacon.
What they do in S.E. Asian, Thailand in particular, is far, far worse.
They put ketchup on pizza.
As a dago that has been eating polenta, cooked on an outdoor, wood fired, oven, covered with a marinara sauce, including pepperoni, sausage, olives {both ripe and green}, mushrooms, garlic, onions and anchovies, I like the little salty fish.
This was our version of pizza, before we ever heard the term pizza.
This way of cooking polenta {and many other kinds of food} was common on farms that had outdoor wood fired ovens, and they were used year round, even in the winter.
Those old time Italians didn't let the weather stop them...hey they were still using an out house well into the early 50s.
Any one that lives in a cold climate, knows the sheer joy of an out house in below freezing temps.
Nobody was using their Iphone playing a game in those out houses.
pizza romana (tomato, mozzarella, anchovies, oregano, oil)
pizza viennese (tomato, mozzarella, German sausage, oregano, oil)
pizza capricciosa (mozzarella, tomato, mushrooms, artichokes, cooked ham, olives, oil
pizza quattro formaggi (”four cheese pizza”: tomatoes, and the cheeses mozzarella, stracchino, fontina and gorgonzola; sometimes ricotta is swapped for one of the latter three)
pizza bianca (”white pizza”: a type of bread topped with olive oil, salt and, occasionally herbs, such as rosemary sprigs)
it is also a Roman style to add figs to the pizza, the result being known as
pizza e fichi and pizza alla casalinga (”Housewife pizza”): a thin layer of dough which is stretched into an oiled, square “Sicilian” pan, topped sparingly with shredded mozzarella, crushed uncooked canned tomatoes, chopped garlic and olive oil, and baked until the top bubbles and the bottom is crisp.
Aww here we go again, another damned pizza war!
How about my favorite: anchovies AND pineapple! So good.
I like anchovies on my pizza.
Hey! Vito is getting figgy with it!
Dem frogs sure gots some skinny legs...

What’s your take on grits?
Lemitar, NM, green chile (Hatch just has better marketing, but Lemitar chile has better flavor) and mushrooms with extra cheese. Yum.
Love green chile, especially on a burger.
Italian sausage, green peppers, black olives, onions, mushrooms.
Also, years ago Dominoes had a bacon cheeseburger pizza that was really good. Maybe they still do.
Anchovies are one of my favorite toppings, plus they have many health benefits. We just have them put on 1/2 the pizza so anchovies lovers can enjoy and anti-anchovie diners, are not bothered by them.
Our “new” favorite pizza is a vegetarian “spicy” pizza with jalapeno, banana, and green peppers, mushrooms, olives, etc.
Order it on a thin crust and you can eat it guilt-free from excess calories and fats.
