It’s important to know both what we know about the new vaccines and what we don’t know.
I’ve practiced for 35 years. I am always honest with my patients, even if conversations are difficult or confrontational. I will also be honest about saying “I don’t know.” This happens when a diagnosis is not readily apparent or when there are limits to the help I can give. With the passage of time, I’ve learned that what we don’t know about medicine outweighs what we do know.
I’ve always been a proponent of older, more established vaccines. However, they are imperfect and, like all medical treatments, can have side effects. Unfortunately, in the conversation about the new COVID-19 vaccines, the tenets of honesty and a willingness to admit ignorance are being compromised.

mRNA technology does not use cultured cell lines of any kind, human or animal. This is one of the aspects that make it a technological leap forward. They are basically designed and synthesized in the lab rather than cultured in petri dishes. This saves a lot of time both in development and manufacturing.
More importantly it opens the door to designer vaccines for cancer treatment. Identify cancer specific proteins and design ab mRNA vaccine to teach the immune system to destroy it.
It also means they may finally have flu shots that work and can be made in weeks when the strain is actually known, rather than guessing a year in advance in order to have time to culture it.

When one is in their late 70’s or early 80’s, this is really important B$! They could become sterile if vaccinated.

Friend got a couple hundred doses from some overseas source last year, no prescription required, but shipping probably cost the same as your consult, not sure. Was concerned about their large extended family, but to date, no one has needed it. Wonder how long the shelf life is on that stuff?

The risk reward ratio is key. The vaccine has risks. Getting/having Covid-19 has risks, but the dangers of Covid-19 have been exaggerated. The risk is almost nothing when managed properly. This is thorough by an expert.
