I've never had a problem with inside cabins on cruise ships.
There is so much to do on a typical cruise ship that you only go into the cabin to sleep anyhow.
It's nice to have a private balcony and I've done that as well, but it's much more expensive.

That sums up my experiences with both.

When I have an outside cabin I spend plenty of time on the balcony looking at the ocean, and notice few other passengers use their balconies.

The inside cabins also rock less because they are closer to the center of the ship

We’ve done inside, outside with window, and balcony. I would say for a cruise to Alaska a balcony is well worth the money and would highly advise it, otherwise no. We did a Mediterranean cruise with a window and that was nice, but probably not necessary.

I think it depends on the cruise duration and the age of the passenger. For us no balcony no go. One of my favorite things in life is to sit on the balcony and watch the ocean and landscapes go by.

We always go for the balcony ,, inside cabins make me feel like a bat in a cave. I do a lot of pic taking and video taking as well. Hard to spot a bear or whale from your inside cabin altho Disney is probably working on it.

A Magic Porthole?? a novel idea.. but just not the same.

You are correct, most folks don’t use the balconies that much. Their loss.

One can stare at the ocean all they want from miles and miles of outside public areas. I like sitting on a recliner in a covered area protected from direct sun to relax or read. I would much rather go on 2 cruises with an inside cabin than 1 cruise with a balcony. Alright, if I was in a honeymoon mode, and wanted to do whoopie in the ocean breeze, may be outside cabin with balcony might be worthwhile. I am past that stage LOL.
